Dd was recently diagnosed with strep throat/scarlet fever. She had all the classic symptoms: fever, sore throat, then a rash the next day. Strep was confirmed through the Rapid Test, and she started antibiotics.
It is now day four since the onset of symptoms and day 3 of antibiotics. Her strep-y symptoms are gone (no fever, throat feels fine), she still has a rash on her stomach and chest, but it hasn't spread and it isn't bothering her.
Anyway, she seems pretty congested at night. She always seems a little congested (I've assumed allergies), but it seems worse than usual. She also has a mild, dry cough.
Everywhere says that congestion and cough are not associated with strep, but are indicative of a virus.
So my quesstion is: is it actually possible for strep to cause a mild cough, or does that mean she has a virus on top of the strep?
