Taking B Vitamins during pregnancy

Okay...now I've got myself totally worried, one of those side effects of too much time on the internet. From before conception until 5 weeks of pregnancy, I was taking a regular multi-vitamin as well as a B complex and Vit. C (B vitamins for help with depression). Pregnancy this time was a surprise and so I didn't start taking a prenatal until 5 weeks. Well I started to worry about those b vitamins I was taking today and decided to look them up online(probably a bad idea) and found out that Niacin (b3) and B12 are not recommended in high doses during pregnancy. I found that niacin can be linked to birth defects. Between the two vitamins, I was taking 35 mg of niacin a day, which is the max. adult dose. I'm now 12 weeks and we heard the baby's heartbeat this last week. DH tells me not to worry but I do...Do you think I should be worried?

Well you weren't going over the maximum right?

My advice is to try your best not to worry. None of us have time machines and we can't change or take back the things we did without knowing any better. The best we can do now is live as healthy as we know how to today.

Aren't B vitamins water soluable? So you just pee out the extra?

Okay, preface that I have a double MTHFR mutation so I *need* the extra B vitamins because my body doesn't use them efficiently but I'm on a folate/B vitamin supplement in addition to the prenatal I was taking. I'm not worried. B vitatmins are water soluable. I'm sure everything is just fine for your babe and congrats on your pregnancy!
