Anyone Been to Legoland with the HSing discount?

We're going next Monday. We get discount tickets for $21/person which is an awesome price. Usually with "regular" legoland tickets you can take them to guest services at the end of the day and pay $15 to add on a 2nd day. I'm wondering if we can do this with our HS tickets?

I'm thinking probably not but boy, it sure would be nice!

I don't think you can because home school discount days are only on Monday (unless something has changed).

We're planning on doing this end of September. I'd love it if you could post back about your experience and how easy/hard it was. Since we've never done it, I'm slightly nervous about going and want to make sure we can definitely get the discount

I live close to LegoLand and go a lot. You have to register online at LegoLand two weeks in advance to get the homeschool discount. It's really easy, then they send you a confirmation by email that you print up and take with you when you go to the park on a homeschool day. The homeschool days are most Mondays Sept - May or June. I don't remember if you need proof of homeschooling or not? I'm sure the website says.

But it was only on Mondays. So if you were wanting to be there for two days, only the Monday would be discounted (unless something has changed). But you can get a hopper pass on homeschool day and do the aquarium and the park in the same day (which I've never had time to do tbh).

The first Monday of the month they have homeschool classes there.

I'm just going to go read the website now. I've been planning on going again soon anyways.

There's the info. Hope that helps.

Unless you all meant the park in FL? Then I'm sorry because I've never been to that one!

LEGOLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want one! No fair! Seriously, how awesome!

We did this last year. We went on a Monday in September (no one was there - it was awesome!). The next day we went to the aquarium - a Tuesday. We were able to buy it all together with our homeschool pass when we went in on Monday.

We didn't need any proof of homeschooling, but they did ask for my ID to make sure it matched the name on the email I had registering as a homeschooler with Legoland.

Right, I understand I wouldn't be able to get the discount on our 2nd day unless we waited all the way to the following Monday but I know usually, without the HSing discount, you can add a 2nd day for $15 at guest services.

So if we bought our tickets at regular price for one day, a child is $57. At the end of the day or at the beginning of the next day you can go to guest services, pay $15 and get in that day as well.

We're going to call them tomorrow and ask. We're getting there late Saturday night and we were going to do Legoland on Sun and Mon but if we can go on Monday with our discounted tickets and then upgrade them for $15 to include the 2nd day then we'll go Mon and Thurs instead (they are closed Tues and Wed so Thursday would be the "next" day).

I'm sure the answer will probably be no but I figure it can't hurt to ask! Oh and yes, I was talking about Legoland CA! We're so excited. We went there a few years ago when the kids were 3 yrs old and 4 mos old and it was a blast. Now we'll have a 3 yr old and a 6 yr old and I know it'll be even more fun.

I'm so excited to see this thread, as we are also planning a big trip down to San Diego for the end of September. My kids have already decided that based purely on the name alone (they love legos) that we must go to Legoland. So I guess that's what we're doing...what's there though? Is it just another amusement park? I'm thrilled that we can get a hs discount; we will certainly register ASAP.

If you know anyone who signs up for "Brickmaster" (the thing where Lego sends your dc a minikit and magazine every two months for a year for $40), they may have free tickets that come with it. The tickets are one free child entrance with a full price adult so you'd need two adults to go to bring two children in with two coupons. Usually you get a couple tickets when you sign up and they also print them in the magazines.

Update

Ok so we called over there today and they said ANY ticket can be upgraded.

So basically we pay $21/person on Monday using our HSing coupon/e-mail they sent us and then for another $15/person we get in the 2nd day! Considering that a 1 day kids ticket is $57 that's a really fantastic deal!

Mere: Legoland is sooo much fun, esp if your kids are 3-12. The last time we went my ds was about 3.5 yrs old and there were a ton of rides for him and honestly I had fun doing them with him. It was really enjoyable. Once they're about 36 inches they can do just about everything in the park and I think once they're something like 42 inches they can do absolutely everything. My 3 yr old is pretty small, she's 36 inches with shoes, and she can even do one of the roller coasters called the coastersaurus.

Also, if anyone's kiddos have food allergies they have a chart on their website with all their food offerings and what allergens they contain. Dd and dh both have celiacs and we were excited to learn they have GF hamburger and hot dog buns.

Omg. We just got back from San Diego this morning! didn't go to leholsnd though, but I'll have to keep this in mind if we ever find ourselves there again.

So I'm still really new to HSing (as in we haven't actually started yet, lol)...do many places offer deals like this?

I'm not sure if lots of places do this but I'm learning it's always a good idea to check. I just happen to stumble across it right when I was just about to buy tickets online for a grand total of $200+ when my eye happen to notice a very small link at the bottom that said "education."

We checked out the other places we're going on our trip and while they did have HS discounts and programs they had to be for groups of usually 10 or more - I'm sure the HSing groups in the area prob do this stuff once a year or something, lucky them! All we do in our middle of nowhere town is visit a peanut factory lol.

Whoohoo! We live right by Legoland and I'm excited to see this discount, plus the 2nd day thing working, too! Thanks so much.

We did the Aquarium with a coupon and it was okay-- glad we used the coupon, though. It was small, which made it manageable, and had a great place to play with legos But I'm used to the Monterey Bay one which is awesome!

Never been to Legoland, but now I'm thinking it will be a great thing for us to do someday before long, if we can do it so cheaply!

Legoland is awesome. I was really surprised at how great it was. I highly recommend it. Especially great for younger kids who get overwhelmed with Disneyland.

The aquarium is really cute, but small. My kids loved it, but don't expect it to be a huge deal. We were done in about 2 hours (and that's with lots of stopping and oohhhing and aaahhhing).
I'm so excited; I registered and printed off my ticket, all the while you MDCers for the fantastic discount I never would've known about...wow. Glad to know that the aquarium is small, but for $4 on the ticket it might be worth it? On the other hand, we might be stopping in SF on our way North so the M. Bay Aquarium might be in our future.

What about the water park? Is that worth it, and is it still warm enough to swim in early October?

For the info of others, the Legoland homeschool days this year are NOT just mondays for the month of september. We're going tomorrow for dh's bday. From the email I received:

I'm pretty sure it's only Mondays, my e-mail says:

Quote:
This offer is available exclusively to Home Schooling families on
Mondays:

LEGOLAND California
*2010:* September 2 - 30 (closed Tuesdays -
Wednesdays);
pp, we had planned on going to the waterpark but they're only open on weekends now and our first day to do stuff is Sunday. It's supposed to only be 69 degrees on Sunday so we decided not to. We were really looking forward to it though! I guess this has been one of the coolest summers SD has had for a long while.

Well, the entire portion of the email says this

2011: January 3 - March 21 and May 2 - 23 (Mondays only)
They only specify Mondays only for Oct 4-Dec13 and the 2011 dates.
