Where to buy nice towels cheaply?

I know there has to be someplace that I'm just not thinking of. Maybe Kohl's? I want towels, not organic or anything but that feel nice. I don't have a lot of "clean up" at my homebirths, since I waterbirth. I just need to soak up a lot of water. My towel collection has been dwindling anyway, so I'm in need of some new ones. But I can't afford $10-20 PER TOWEL!

So, where is the discount store at which to buy nice fluffy towels that I'm not thinking of? (I don't have a Ross or IKEA, btw).

TIA

I had luck at Anna's Linens, I don't know if you have those nearby.

I got a 10$ off any purchase coupon in the mail from Khol's (I think it's because I signed up online), and found their "big one" towels on sale 55% off, so I bought 4 towels and paid $4.28 after tax for all 4 Big, soft, and decent quality Even without one of the coupons, it would've been 14.28 for 4, which is still a good deal for the quality Keep an eye on their sales

Anna's Linens is good.

If you have time and don't mind ordering online you can find some good things at overstock.com

Target is also a good place to get decent towels for cheap. But if you're just looking for extra towels for your birth, then thrift stores and yard sales have them cheapest of all, usually. Once you wash them, they're fine! Doesn't even matter if they have a stain, or are a bit frayed.

I've been shopping yard sales and thrift stores all summer.

This time of year, check the clearance section of stores for beach towels. They are huge, soft, and super cheap everywhere right now.

I bought my birthing towels at K-Mart. About every 3rd week they put their basic towels on said for either $2 each or 2/$5. They are soft, pretty colors and decent towels. They aren't huge, but they are plenty big enough to do the job.

We really liked the Laura Ashley quick-dry ones from Kohl's. A decent price, too.

I bought a bunch from KMart online. They were $2.50 each, decent quality, and big enough.

Costco, if you have a membership. Overstock.com usually has good prices and a decent selection. And Amazon has surprising deals once in awhile.

Cheap beach towels like you get at The Christmas Tree Shops are great for a birth--just be sure that they don't bleed dye when they get wet. We have some that we got for $1 each, and they're awesome except you can ONLY wash them with each other, because they turn everything else a weird shade of lavender.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I tried out a newish store in my area called AJ Wright yesterday. I think they are part of the TJMaxx/Marshalls group. I was just looking, but I found some of those cotton/rayon blend towels that feel like velour on one side and I've wanted towels like that for 15+ years but never been able to afford them. $5 each, 2 for washcloths and 3 for hand towels! I got everything I wanted for under $100! Yay! And they are the MOST beautiful aqua color with white floral pattern.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I did order some from Kohl's before I went there, but I'll be taking them back. Can't pass up the velour towels...

If you have a walmart nearby, check them. When I went to college I found some bright orange towels for $1 in their "whatever sale" section. They held up better than the nicer one's my parents gave me... and my husband perferrs them over the JC Penny Towels we were given when we got married.

The JCP towels are relatively inexpensive, and they're always having sales on them...

Good Luck!

I recently got some really nice towels from JCPenny. It was a set of 6 (2 bath towels, 2 hand towels, 2 washcloths) for $20. They had other options too that seemed good. I was surprised, because last year when I got a similar deal from a cheapie company I thought I had a good deal. But JCPenny's towels are soooooo much nicer.

Our regular towels became the 'birth towels' and bought new FABULOUS towels from Costco. They are fairly large, very soft (even with line drying), and have held up very well. $7 each (I think) and probably only 5 or 6 color choices.
