DD (26 months) has rarely taken a nap longer than 45 minutes. To give you an idea, I would say that since she was about 2 weeks old, she has had maybe 50 naps longer than 45 minutes. So, according to my math, she has taken a 45 minute nap about 98% of the time.
Yet, she slept through the night 12 hours since she was about 3 months old.
But, now, for the last 2 weeks or so she has taken a 2 hour nap, sometimes longer, everyday that I have been able to give her one.
I have been not wanting to jinx it, but it has now been over two weeks so I feel I am in the clear.
I am in heaven. She does seem to need her nap earlier. Well, actually the fact that she seems to need the nap at all is new, too. So, that can be rough. And, it is also harder to do things in the middle of the day, but to be fair she is quite adaptable.
But, oh my gosh, to have 2 hours to myself everyday.
Unfortuately, DH is starting to catch on to this, and of course now I feel like there is no excuse to not have a clean house or dinner on the table everyday.
I never thought this would happen. I resigned myself to not having a long napper. I dreamed about it. I wondered what it would be like. But, just hoped that our next one was a better napper.
For all you all out there with 45 minute nappers, you just never know.
Also, for any of you out there well-read on sleep behaviour in children, what does this mean?
Here's to more time on MDC! woo-hoo!
