HPTs and UTIs...

Well, I think I may be pregnant. The weekend after my husband graduated boot camp we had unprotected sex, and so far my period has been 5 or 6 days late. But, I have also had 2 UTIs (or a recurrence of the same one) during the last 2 weeks, so I am afraid to take a home pregnancy test for fear the results will be wrong, or if the UTIs have delayed my period and not pregnancy. Anyone have any experience with this? Should I just wait til the UTI is gone to take the test or see if my period shows up?

The UTI will not make the test give you a false answer.

The only thing that could make a test positive is hCG. No food, drink, infection, or medication (besides fertility medications that specifically contain hCG) is going to make a positive result when there is none of the hormone in your urine.

UNLESS - it's a blue dye test - those things are known for false positives, but not because of anything that you could eat or take or infections, they just are not good tests. Stick to pink dye, and definitely test!
