red cheeks and excessive spit up

Hi there!! My lo is 6 months old. He had avocado and some oats last night for a little snack at dinner time.
Well he spat up ( more like vomitted as it was lots ) all of it, and he very rarely spit ups anything. If he does it is in very small amounts.
These are not first foods for him, he has had them before.
This morning he has 2 bright red cheeks.

What is causing this?

also he has a red bottom and his stools are a little on the firm side.
I have no experience w/ food intolerances. Just wondering if this could maybe be one?

Ann, I am also from UK. North London, but have lived in US for 15 years now.

Could be a virus... I'd wait and see if it runs its course in the next few days, then offer one of those foods at a time and see how he does.

Could be teeth, though... my DD always got a red bottom when teeth were coming in because of the increase in the amount of saliva she was swallowing.
