Big growth spurt in 8yo & foul attitude connected?

So the past month my son (8.5) has been eating like crazy. During this time he also had a nasty attitude. Acting pretty mean & just very emotional all around, lots of meltdowns over little things.

He’s also looking a thinner, so I measured him. He is exactly 2 ¼ inches taller than he was 1 month ago! I also realized that he has been much calmer (even calmer than he usually is ) this past week.

Makes me wonder if the growth spurt and attitude were connected. Heading into the hormonal tween stuff maybe?

I measure him pretty frequently. Spurts like this are not common for him. He usually grows pretty slowly but steadily.

Anyway, anyone else notice stuff like this?

That really makes a lot of sense. Growth spurts make them hungry and tired, and hungry and tired make kids cranky for sure.

Yup, in our household moodiness always accompanies growth spurts for my DS. With DD, I don't notice it as much, or maybe I have that to look forward to

if the attitude stands out then yes it is hormonal too. watch out. usually the first signs of prepuberty is 'mood swings' and then BO. for us she is moody during growth spurts but 6 stands out for me. that's when dd started her prepuberty with BO soon after the pmsing.

however my dd has growth spurts with sudden growths. not gradual. every summer since i noticed when she was 4 she'd eat all the time, turn rounder and then shoot up and be thin.
