I finally cured his cradle cap!

Hello, I don't post very often but I do read quite a bit and wanted to share my little revelation. My son is now 27 months and he was born with quite the head of thick hair. We have struggled with cradle cap since soon after birth. I tried everything including oils and soaps and shampoos and not washing his hair and washing his hair every day. Nothing worked so I just learned to ignore it.

I have a sensitive scalp and can't use shampoos so I have been washing with baking soda mixed with some EOs and jojoba oil for some time now. I never thought to try it on him until recently.

It worked! The baking soda mix helped to break up his cradle cap and it is now nearly gone. I don't know why it works but it is a miracle. Nothing else I tried worked. He had had cradle cap for over 2 years.

I just wanted to share this with other mothers that are having problems with persistent cradle cap.

Yay! I cured my baby's with coconut oil and then scraping it off with a comb, then wash with Dr Bronners. But my 3 year old's has never gone away. I wash my own hair with baking soda, but hers with just water. I'll try baking soda on her. What exactly do you do? Do you dilute it in a cup of water? How much do you scrub?

i used coconut oil or olive oil and a comb and that always worked!

i use baking soda on my own scalp but i thought it would be too abrasive for a baby? ill try that if it comes back.. its been goone a month now here- since i went 100% gluten free (no cheating)

That is awesome! While I have used Baking soda in my own hair for washing, it didn't do much for my kids in getting rid of the cradle cap. However, I have never tried jojoba oil.
All 5 of them had cradle cap. I finally got rid of it for all of them using California Babies Tea Tree and Lavendar soap. Took a good 10 days, but it has disappeared. Well, except for the 3 year old that won't let me wash her hair
