Yay! Today I took my son to a big Not Going Back to School picnic here at one of the large parks. He had lots of fun playing. I met a nice homeschooling mom too. There were lots of kids and parents....but shy me isn't the sort to barge in and say "here I am, who is everyone?"
My son at one point came up and asked me to help him make a friend to play with. I told him to introduce himself to whomever he was playing with. There were a few rude big kids who pushed him out of the way but most were great.
The nice thing I see with the dynamics of HS kids is that for the most part age doesn't seem to be an issue. The boy he played with the most is 6.5 and ds is only turning 4 in Nov. DS is very bright and tends to prefer big kids over his own age peers, but most big kids don't want to play with him.....so in my eyes another hooray for hsing.

His bday party invitations are going to a 3yo, 3mo, 5yo, 4yo, 6yo, 10yo and 38yo (and various moms). He's really turning into a great little guy.
