Scared. Called Nurse and was put on Rest tonight. Anyone had this and been ok?

I called about my pains once they got sharper and more constant and accompanied by back pain.

I was told to rest tonight and that I needed to be seen tomorrow. I'm 4 weeks 6 days as of right now and I'm terrified.

I asked if the baby would be okay. She only said if I miscarried there was nothing they can do for me. Not spotting or bleeding, but just so scared at the possibility of losing this baby after trying for 4 long months.

Anyone had vaginal pains like this and gone on to be okay and fine?

Here's the thread from earlier http://www.mothering.com/discussions....php?t=1260160

first of all... 4 months isn't long. Trust me. You are lucky it only took that long

second of all... is it sort of like menstrual cramps?

Go take a nice warm bath. It will help. Its totally normal to cramp up early in pregnancy as your uterus stretches.

I had something that sounds like this and I am now fine at 36 weeks.
Happens every once in a while for me and has never had a bad consequence.
good luck!

MaerynPearl, I know for most it's not long at 4 months, but ds was 8 weeks, so compared to that it felt like a year. Still, though. Ds already knows and is excited kinda scared if I have to tell him something bad happened.

I will try the bath, and yes it's somewhat like menstrual cramps. I've also off and on had lower back pain and a cramp at the top of thigh and abdomen (where they join.) Occasionally I'll have sharper shooting pains. Just had one that went from vaginal straight to my ribs.

Though if it's normal why would they tell me to rest and if I miscarried there was nothing they could do. That part scared me. They mentioned something about a UTI, I think, and I do leak urine when I have to go and I am going an AWFUL lot (4 times since I called them at 3pm and I've not drank even 8oz water all day)

taffywelsh thank you. Hopefully we will be just fine, too. Crossin' fingers.

Could be a UTI reading your other thread, i suppose... did they ask you to come in to test for one?

They would tell you to rest and that if you miscarry there is nothing they can do because that is what they tell EVERY early pregnancy lady that calls in with a concern, unfortunately. Even if they are not concerned that it is a miscarriage.

Well, what she said was I'd come in for a pregnancy test tomorrow and a prenatal exam, but not a full prenatal exam as I'm moving soon and will need to change providers.

Not sure if they are doing the uti test along with or not. She asked if I leaked anything. I did say urine when I had to pee and such and added there there's been no spotting at all. So I guess we will see. The pains come and go rest does seem to help and now that ds zonked out I can relax a bit more. :P

I do feel a bit better that the rest doesn't really mean anything bad. After crying a bit, I told dh I'm not going to flip out until or if I see blood. Since there's been none, I'll assume things aren't terribly in danger.

But man, I wish dh would go get me bread. I have an amazing craving for toast and strawberry jam.

Thanks, MaerynPearl. I'll update when I find out more. Hopefully it's just a minor scare and nothing serious.

i had excruciating cramps at the beginning of pregnant and lots of lower back pain. It turned out to be dehydration. Drink! Drink! Drink! Then, drink a little more .

yup I was just going to add that dehydration is a big cause for false labor, etc.

You know, I just was noticing earlier that I've yet to down 2 glasses of water all day. There's no doubt I'm somewhat dehydrated. I put another bottle in there and will guzzle that and one more before bed. I'll be peeing all night but at least NOT dehydrated! :P

Thanks for the info ladies!

I took a shower and laid down and pains are gone - for now. Going back to rest and play some games for the night.

i've been trying 8 years before got pregnant. First 2 weeks i had the same feeling as i normally have with period. Some pain in the back, some uncomfortable cramps.
Then a few red spots, then nothing. I jumped into the bed and was laying down few weeks. Nothing heavy, no sex, no running, no crying.
Anyway i believe that if something meant to happen- it will happen during first 2-3 months.
good luck!

I hope that all is well. This must be a terrifying thing to go through.

yes, i've had intermittent cervical/uterine pains throughout this pg, especially in the first two months! baby's fine. i'm 22 weeks now. apparently the pain, in my case, is caused by two fibroids and/or the scar from my previous caesarean stretching. try not to worry! rest well :

Thanks all. Not really sure what to think after apt to be honest. She said no infection - yeast or uti. Some white blood cells in the yellow discharge. Some bacteria but nothing infection related.

I'm still having milder pains now and again, but they are different and they rarely get bad (then again I'm all freaked out and retire to bedrest when they creep up)

She said all she can figure is if I bent my legs back something might have stretched (I did that first 2 nights for sure not so much the night it hurt) and I may have also been dehydrated as well. Although I still feel a bit of a mild burning warmth now and again there... I'm keeping an eye on things. If it flares up again I'll place another call to be sure. No pain or bleeding and the urine I thought I leaked she said it might have just been cervical fluid as we are producing more now. Cervix not bruised or anything, so things seem fine.

Thanks all for your words. They kept me calmer through all of the waiting.

Id say the fact that its coming and going and getting less and less severe is a comforting thought (most bad things would just get worse and worse)

Yes, that's kinda what I was thinking too. The pains started now 5 days ago and they are down to basically nil at the moment. What I feel now is likely just normal stretching and such. She thought it wasn't out of the ordinary that it'd hurt for 2-3 days after a BD if that had something to do with things, so I'll assume all is well for the time being.

Still taking ti easy, though... because I can, and I do tend to err on the side of caution as a rule.
