can anyone recommend a metal set of gardening tools that will hold up through the years? i was looking for a set of hand held tools and a rake/shovel combination with longer handles. i have one hand held shovel that has lasted for a few years now, but it has no information on it. i believe it is aluminum?

The Wooden Wagon has really nice non-plastic garden tools for children.

I got dd1's hand-held gardening tools at Lowe's home improvement store. I got them for Easter 2009. They are no special brand, but I did make sure to get ones w/ wooden handles. They are holding up great considering that they get left outside 24/7 all spring and summer long And they did not cost much, either.

i'll be needing a rake soon enough so i thought i'd check in and see if any one could offer any suggestions. i just do not want to buy another set that is going to rust, which bothers me more than plastic.

If you are open to plastic, we like products by Spielstabil. They are made in Germany, much higher quality than other plastics, and have a one or two year warrenty. We bought ours from mauliko.com .
