Yeah, yeah. Me too.
Though I wouldn't want anybody to feel demoralized, she obviously somewhat felt that what she was saying was against something she felt or she wouldn't have winced at your judgement, IMO. KWIM?

Yeah, yeah. That too.

Colors are colors, sheesh. I'm already fighting this battle because my kid likes pink and when he goes to his daddy's he gets chastised.

if it'd been me, she would have been lucky to get only a facial expression and not a lecture to go along with it.

Me, my girlfriend and her 2 yo DD were at a fair game. The kind where little kids all get a duck with the number on the bottom, then you can pick any prize inside the area with the corresponding number. Inside hers was the cutest little stuffed monster toy - kind of like cookie monster. (Not decapitated. fanged teeth monster.) I suggested that because it was round and stuffed and looked like it would be good for hugging. My friend gave me a withering look and said "THAT is not NOT a girl toy". Seriously?!? I actually gave her the face - because I was so surprised. After the face, she stepped between me and her dd to explain to her dd why it wasn't a girl toy. They chose a nice pink princess doll.

I agree with you, some people are weird.

I live in a pretty progressive area where most people are pretty educated and worldly, and I'm always so surprised at how many people think like this! DS has a doll and it is one of his 2 favorite toys. He carries his doll everywhere, and has a little doll stroller that he pushes down the street. The doll wears little blue PJs, and the stroller is blue and green... it was hard to find something that wasn't pink! But the reaction from so many people I know just astounds me.

Even his speech therapist, when seeing him hug his doll, said "Wow, your DH is okay with that?" I didn't even know how to respond! Uh, yeah.

Op- I am sorry it made you feel bad to have her feel a bit bad about what she said. I really might give her pause next time on at least finding a better way to say what she is thinking. If it really was about just the pictures then she really should have said something like the red one will show up so much better then that pink one.

My almost 5 year old went through a loving pink and purple faze for about 9 months and has just recently ended that drove my grandparents nuts. He has now decided that green and only sometimes pink are his new favorite colors. He also loves baby dolls and Tinkerbell.

That's adorable, MD. DS loves pink. He has hot pink flip flops, a hot pink elephant, and he really wants a hot pink shirt, but I can't seem to find any that don't have Barbie or some such on them. I have to be honest though, I haven't really looked too hard.

But he wants to be a king with a blue cape and a sword for Halloween.

Once when my dd's fiance came to visit, he told my son not to play with a little pink bucket.

After @ the third time, I'd finally had enough. The next time he said, "Hey buddy, you don't want to play with that. It's pink. It's for girls" I made the most horrible face and jumped off the couch screeching, "OMG! Give it to me!!! Get it from him!!! Now! NOW!!! Before his **** falls off from the pinkness!!!!!!"

Her fiance got the hint real quick that those types of comments just don't fly in my house. LOL

And then I got to make the comment to him (while looking very pointedly at him), "You know, I love my kids.....no matter what choices they make or WHO they bring home........".

LOL

I swear DS's favorite color is pink. If we're in the toy store, he insists on trying out the pink bikes, pink toys, (LOVES the "girlie" isles!), and will jump into the big pink Escalade truck they have on display every time

He loves his trucks, sports and other "boy" stuff too but definitely has a thing for pink. And that's fine by me. People need to lighten up
