Cravings?

I know, I know.. so cliche to have cravings this early but I do.

I really want carne asada and grilled jalapenos. I never eat red meat except when Im pregnant. It just isnt super appealing to me. Last pregnancy I had a bit of a hamburger/meatloaf/meatball craving until one day I tried to sub ground turkey and ended up being so disgusted any type of ground meat was totally repellent to me after that. I never really craved protein rich stuff after that .. I craved sweet things.

This time, I am pretty repulsed by sweet stuff. I also dont want any carbs like pasta or potatoes.

I did get a bit obsessed the last few days with cauliflower roasted with breadcrumbs and parm and ate half a head of one for dinner tonite

What about you?

Oranges. Seriously, I cannot get enough oranges. I usually don't care for them.

I'm also craving baked potatoes. My lunch for the past week has consisted of a heaping spinach salad, navel orange, and a baked potato with sour cream an shredded cheddar cheese.

I'm also craving red meat. Which is the opposite from my pregnancy with DD. I had a major aversion to red meat (especially ground beef) throughout my first trimester.

fizzy stuff.

my beverage of choice, cranberry juice with club soda and a slice of lime. i drank it all through my first pregnancy and have started drinking it already.

sadly, i have more aversions than i do cravings.

I definitely think it is the protein, but also the iron I crave. Sometimes I have a slight iron deficiency by then end of the pregnancy.

That and cheesecake!!!
That sounds really yummy! I havent been to Outback in forever. I dont trust my pregnant self around that blooming onion, so it's best we dont test my willpower.

But the cheesecake! Now that is a sweet that sounds good. The Red Velvet Cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory is one of the most delightful things Ive ever eaten. Im so glad I live an hour away from that restaurant

I don't really have any cravings yet, I seem to have gone off chocolate though

Protein--beans, lentils, nuts, hummus, Quorn...surprisingly, no meat.
Ginger snaps
WATER! (Is that a craving? Haha.)

A couple things that I usually like that have grossed me out are asparagus and avocado.

Before I got pregnant the first time, I never craved sweets or drank soda. Once I got pregnant with her, all I wanted was sour stuff. I had a huge aversion to sweets. Ever since she was born, I've only craved sweet stuff. I never was a dessert eater before her; now I eat tons of sweets. At the same time, my tolerance for salt dropped. I hardly use salt in any cooking and don't enjoy eating out because everything is too salty.

Now that I am pregnant again, my salt tolerance is back. I ate MASSIVE amounts of salt yesterday (pickle, pickle juice, a can of vienna sausage, breaded buffalo chicken wings, spaghetti and garlic bread, lots of ranch/caesar dressing). In fact, I think I will go eat more garlic bread...

I am craving hot sauce and spicy stuff. I add siracha chili sauce and Tabasco to everything. Eat wasabi peas by the handful. Not as strange though as last pregnancy where I was obsessed with ice, eating it, crunching it, super size drinks with crushed ice in the MIDDLE of winter. It was very strange- and I wasn't anemic they checked!

Roasted garlic and roasted hatch chilis. Can't get enough of either. I'm sure I stink!

oh yes... and protein. Which is odd, because I had to gag down protein with my first pregnancy. Now, I want lots and lots of it.

My cravings have not been very strong. I have been drinking lemonade with soda water to cut the sweetness and give some sparkle. That's about the only thing that has changed.

I've been getting really random specific cravings. Like last night I wanted to make italian dressing chicken. I had to go out to the dollar general and get a bottle of(kraft) italian dressing to cook the chicken in. store brand dressing or olive oil and vinegar and spices weren't gonna cut it. I needed the processed nature of bottle italian. Crazy! This morning I'm craving applesauce. It sucks because the nearest grocery store is 20 minutes, so if I'm craving something specific, I have to drive a bit, or get what I can find at the dollar store. so annoying! Right now I'm drinking a homemade mocha, so that's staving off the cravings a bit. Nothing too weird though! I already eat a lot of meat, so I think I'm getting enough protein and iron!

whoops - daughter somehow posted the same post again

Food! . Actually no specific cravings yet, but last night I bit into a sandwich made from leftover roast chicken and it was suddenly the best thing I had ever tasted . I could have eaten two more just like it.

Chicken Ceasar Salad! I haven't had it in years and now I MUST have it as much as possible! It's got to be my strangest repeat craving to date.

With #1 I had to constantly have bananas. Now DS5 eats at least one a day!

With #2 I had to have Sausage McMuffins with egg. Previous to this pregnancy I would never have eaten one. Now DS4 loves sausage. He would eat it everyday if we let him!

With #3 I didn't have any really strong repeat cravings. I wanted ice cream more than usual. Not usually a big fan. We'll see if she winds up being a super ice cream freak. At 19 months, she's not allowed to have more than a couple bites occasionally, and who wouldn't love it?

Now with #4, I can't get enough chicken ceasar salad and I am also not interested in sweets. What? This is the first time in my life! I think this is going to be a healthy eating girl baby.

So, do they like these things because I ate them, or did they make me crave them?

I was about to start a cravings thread! Love that I found this one. I wondered if early cravings were just my imagination.

Mine is potato salad. I hardly ever eat the stuff. But in the past week I cannot eat enough of it. My husband's been to the food coop to get it for me last night, and I bought it for lunch at least 3 times now. I sat in bed last night and ate the entire container.....

I regret nothing.

I think it's too early for me to actually be craving stuff, but I have really wanted a hamburger lately.

I never want to eat meat again. I made carne asada, which was so good going down. But I just dont have the digestive enzymes for meat because I never eat it and just UGH. I had to take colace. I feel disgusting still, 3 days later.

Now, I just want Avocado sprout sandwiches and lavender soda.
