I am about to start freezing food for after my baby comes. From my experience with my first baby, I need a lot of food stored up. The last time, I froze soups in mason jars. This was fine except that I don't have enough mason jars to freeze as much as I'd like to have ready, and they take up lots of space because they need extra head room to keep them from exploding as they freeze.
We've done very minimal plastic in the kitchen for years, and now I'm not really sure just how bad plastic is and which plastics are worse.

Ziplock disposable containers seem rather pricey at more than $1 each (priced at one store only). I'm not sure what they're made of.

I found PET containers online (but sold at a local supply house) for about $0.30 each (for 50 lids and containers).

How bad is it to buy disposable plastic containers for this purpose?

Are there better and affordable options?

Thanks,
Melinda
