I have been ECing my daughter part time since 11 months. I rarely have a poop in a diaper, typically only if she goes during a nap for some off reason. Pees are a little harder to catch. When we are home she is mostly bare bottomed, but last weekend I started keeping her naked ALL the time except naps and bed time. Over the four day weekend she did pretty well, had more hits in the potty each day. But it is completely based on timing (and it is VERy obvious when she needs to poop, so that is easy), she never tells us she needs to go. Then I brought her to daycare yesterday and told them that she isn't wearing a diaper and that I want them to do that as well. She had some hits in the potty and some accidents as well. They seem a little annoyed with it. But I feel like we need to be consistent to reach the ultimate goal of not needing a diaper and teaching her to communicate that she needs to go. Wouldn't it be more confusing to her to be in diapers full time at day care and naked all the time at home? I am feeling stressed about. Is this what I should be doing or am I just causing stress on my DD, myself and daycare? I just don't know what to do. I really think she can do this, but I also get freaked out that I could be pushing too hard and moving too fast. Any advise is welcome!

When I started PT with DD, I asked DC to take DD to the potty after meals and every hour. I put pull ups on her just in case, and when the babysitter was confident that her furniture wasn't going to get ruined, and there were no more accidents to speak of, we stopped using diapers altogether.

I had DD wear diapers when she was going to daycare at 14 and 15m (now she will be with my dad who can figure out what he is comfortable with). I asked the DCP to offer her potty regularly, like you would with a toddler/preschooler who is a little older. Basically she was doing great with it but sometimes had a wet diaper. Many all dry days too though.
She was wearing fuzzibunz which can be easily pulled up and down. We're going to be traveling for 3 days next week and I think we'll just do the smallest size of pullups... makes everyone more comfortable and reduces potential laundry.
I actually don't think my DD thinks of diapers or undies that differently. I think its more having the opportunity to use the potty that is important, rather than what garment she is wearing.

my dd goes to a mothers day out program and they do not allow children under 2 to be taken potty. they say it is the states rule. She only goes 1/2 day 1 to 2 x a wk but sometimes she goes a full day. I keep her in cloth pull ups and she holds it until I come get her. When she stays all day she tells her teacher she needs to go and then she goes in her pull up and is changed immediately. It hasn't been confusing to her. Today the lady wouldn't take her so she pulled down her pants peed on the pull up her pants the floor and the ladies hand
It is not ideal but it hasn't confused her either.

Anyway, I think children understand that different places have different rules and routines and they can fit around these really well. My DD wears underpants all the time (when awake) except at daycare, although they do sit the children on potties.
I agree with emmaegbert, I think what's important is offering the potty.
But I think also you need to be comfortable with the arrangement, and the carers need to be comfortable with it.

Good thing you have a healthy attitude to it. I think I would be writing congressmen about it (and probably making myself miserable in the process). Everyone should have the right to go to the bathroom when they need to.
