Anyway, I just got off the phone with my brother. Basically I just read this whole thread to him. (He informed me that I am not boring.) He said he's already picked up a couple things, and what he's picked up has all been recommended by some of you.

He's coming over tomorrow evening for dinner and hanging out for a game night with us.

He stayed with us for a couple of months earlier this year while going through some really difficult circumstances, and loved sharing our game nights with us while he was here. So, in a way, this is his way of saying "thanks" for everything.

I'll be talking to him again in the morning; so if anyone has any other suggestions, he said "keep 'em coming!"

I told him that I think it's incredibly sweet of him to do this, but I really hope he doesn't spend too much. Then he growled at me! Told me he gets to do something nice for us, and I'm not allowed to concern myself about what it costs!

ummm, okay...

Really, I'm just super excited he'll be spending the evening with us. I kinda got used to him being here, and haven't even seen him in about a month now!

Anyway, sorry for the novel. And thanks again for all of your suggestions!
Aww, your brother is awesome.

We think so!

I talked to him this morning, and he was so cute...sounded all excited about it. The kids think he's the greatest uncle EVER! They're helping me make some of his favorite foods for dinner tonight, and have been asking all day when he's going to get here. (btw, they know he's coming, but have no idea that he's bringing anything)

He's actually going to be spending a couple days with us. He has a little time off, and doesn't have to leave until Sun. (He lives about 3 hours away)

So, does anyone want me to report back and let you know what he brings? (I don't want it to come across as bragging or something, ya know?)

I appreciate all the suggestions that have been made. It's so hard to know if somethings going to actually be enjoyable just by looking. Thank you for sharing your opinions with me!

Yes! I want to know what he brings! And tell us how you and your family liked them.

The one we've loved is Apples to Apples. There is a Junior version and a regular version. Junior is just as fun for older people but littler kids can understand it better.

Feeling So Spoiled!

I'm back to share...and to say again how AWESOME I think my brother is!

I'll start by saying that we haven't played all of these yet (so I'll have to give an update later on my opinion of them), but we had such a blast last night! Here's what he brought us:

Family Fluxx (I this game.)
Apples to Apples
In A Pickle
Rat-A-Tat Cat
Frog Juice
Scrambled States (To help with Homeschooling, he said)
VisualEyes
Cranium Family Fun
The Game of LIFE
Battleship
Phase 10
Rory's Story Cubes (DD2 is over the moon about these!)
5 Decks of cards (different designs on the backs, a specific one for each of us) + cribbage board + unmarked wooden poker chips + 2 books of Card Games
3 Wood peg games (handed one to each DC when he came in)

Now, as if that wasn't enough...he handed me a gift certificate for a little Greek restaurant and said he's watching DC tonight so me and DP can have a night out (Which we haven't done in...idk, a loooong time!)

He's out playing ball with DC right now. I'm going to get us some lunch, but I wanted to post on here and share how sweet he is!

wow! you both love each other so much. He is certainly a thoughtful and caring person. It sounds like he really feels that you deserve this and wants to contribute to your family in a fun and healthy way. Sounds like you are both very blessed to have each other. Enjoy the games and your relationship!

how nice of him! I was going to add to get cards-- it's what we played most often growing up.
