my husband is european. my BIL is a dentist in my husband's home country. over there, children start with toothpaste after the first tooth arrives. naturally, it's specifically made with the assumption that they're not able to spit. last time we were there visiting, i bought some of that toothpaste and started brushing her teeth with it. so she's been using it since she was 17-months old. we had been consistently brushing her teeth with water and brush since she was about 11-12 months old.
