I can't get rid of yeast rash!

Hi Moms!! I originally posted this on the health thread/forum of MDC, but wondering if any of you have had any experience or suggestions... THANKS!

My LO will be 5 months on Thursday and we've been battling several bouts of yeast rashes. This is rash #3 (first two were on his butt and treated with anti-fungal cream). The third rash started on his back, between his shoulder blades...ended up in his butt crack and above it, and on the bald spot on the back of his head. It just seems to spread. I've been treating with monistat 7 cream (per recommendation of dr.) 3x/day for the last two weeks, but as new spots keep arising, it's hard to keep track of how long I've been treating a particular area...

Why is he so susceptible to yeast? How can I prevent it? And, what do I need to do next, because it's driving me nuts!! I find it weird it's on his back side and wonder if the heat and humidity of the summer brings it from sitting and sweating in his carseat or sleeping...

I haven't dealt with as persistent of a yeast rash as you have, but I did read a lot about them when DD had a nasty one (that ended up going away with anti-fungal cream). Several people reported success with plain yogurt applied topically and with supplementing mama (if BFing) and baby with probiotics. And lots of nakey time. Good luck!

Yes, probiotics. Could it be a reaction to a detergent? Are you sure it's yeast, not heat rash? For yeast: sunshine, air, diluted vinegar or hydrogen peroxide...

I'm pretty sure it's yeast...it's somewhat responsive to anti-fungal cream, but just can't get it to disappear. It will let up and come back. And, it looks the same as the yeast rash he had on his butt this summer that the doctor/nurse diagnosed. And it's spreading....

My dd has a persistant yeast rash on her bottom. I have been cutting almost ALL sugar, honey and flour out of my diet. Don't know if that is helping but I am also using Weleda calendula cream which I really think is helping.
