Weight and menarche - Page 2

My Dd's pediatrician said that daughters usually start at an age similar to their mother's menarche. I was 11, but I have no idea how much I weighed or how tall I was.

There's a big difference between myself and my daughter, she is much leaner than I was. I thinned out with puberty, but she's already as lean as can be, so I wonder if that may impact her menarche.

I was nearly 14 and 70 something pounds when I started, both pretty typical numbers for the women in my family. I wouldn't have started until I was in college if you had to be at least 100 lbs!

My dd is 13.5, weighs maybe 88 pounds and has not started. She also has no other signs of physical maturity, much to her dismay. All her friends have more mature bodies, and it is starting to be a source of stress for her.

FWIW - My older sister and I started our periods within a month or two of each other. I was 11 and overweight; she was 14 and borderline anorexic.
