Milk goes bad

My pumped milk goes bad (=tastes old, rotten) veeeery quickly. It does not last 24hrs in the fridge, even if I put it in right after pumping. Even in the freezer it goes bad in less than 3-4 days. I've cleaned and sterilized all equipment all the time, I checked temperature settings of fridge and freezer, I do everything by the book. My freshly pumped milk tastes fine by the way.

Is there anything I can do to increase the shelf life of my breastmilk?

Sounds like a lipase issue! You probably have to scald it after pumping. You lose some nutrients but it stops the process of enzyme digestion that causes it to go so quickly.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try this out today!

Never knew about lipase, but after searching for it only, it seems to fit me.

I'm going to move this out to the general forum.
