Do HB Midwives do ultrasounds?

Do Home birth midwives do ultrasounds? I would like just one to make sure all is well with the baby. I don't want to know the gender or anything... just that baby is happy and healthy.

I have an interview with 2 midwives next week.. but this is bugging me.

Most don't DO them but can order them like any other provider. In my area all the CPM's have a few different places they can send people.

None of mine ever have and because of how rural we are, they have no place to send you. If you want an US then you get to hunt one down yourself. If someone wants them here then I hear they usually go to an OB, pretend to be a new patient and get one that way. I find that to be way too much hassle for someone who isn't big on them anyway so I don't get them.

Mine sends you off for one at 20 weeks with the OB office she refers anyone who risks out to.

Hi there - just my two cents since I'm exactly in this position - working w/a CPM, planning a homebirth and going for our 20 week (well 19 weeks at the end of the month. We really wanted to know gender AND have one "check everything" ultrasound so the 20 week one was perfect for us. Our CPM has somewhere she has a connection with, but we absolutely could/would have done a birth center/hospital appointment if we had to to get it scheduled. I'm sure it will be a simple question for your MW/interview and that they'll be supportive of your wishes/how to help you - Good luck w/everything!

My midwife left it up to us. She doesn't require it. I went to one of those private places that advertise the 3/4D sonograms. They do anatomy scans that calculate due date, size, gender, etc. They also take a look and make sure things look fine.
