Any Immersion Blender Recs?

Thread Starter
I have had 2 Cuisinart immersion blenders and both broke in the same way, the plastic gears where the motor attaches to the stick melted. I am looking for a new one with metal gears I guess. I really want a vitamix but cost wise I think I can afford an immersion blender. Also I prefer using an immersion blender in the pot over transferring soup/sauce to a blender and back to the pot, one less thing to clean, the immersion blenders a a sinch to clean and I always make a huge messing pouring batches of soup/sauce in and out of the blender.

So any recs?
Or should I suck it up and get a vitamix? is there even a immersion blender like the one I am looking for that isn't half the cost of a vitamix?

The same thing happened to two cuisinart immersion blenders that I had!

I hate how cuisinart puts awesome powerful motors in things, but then uses wimpy plastic parts that can't handle the power of the motor!!!

I use immersion blenders all the time, but was planning on replacing mine with the cheapest one I can find, since apparently even the good brand ones don't last.

I"ve been happy with a KitchenAid immersion blender. I'll admit that I don't try anything too tough with it. I use it for blending soups and smoothies and sauces occasionally whipping egg whites. I don't use it on ice or frozen berries etc.

I considered the Bamix, which is highly recommended, but pricier than the KA. If I ever need a replacement, I'll probably buy the Bamix.

We have a Bamix and LOVE it. We had a cuisinart before that and then were given the Bamix as a gift. I love how easy it is to clean (all stainless steel and no weird crooks for stuff to get stuck it, only takes a rinse and a quick wipe and it clean again) it's powerful and the buttons are positioned way better than they were on my cuisinart so it doesn't hurt my hand if i'm mixing for a long time. I think they are on the pricier end though but definatly worth it after using other stick mixers.

We have a Braun one that DH had when he was in college. It's been in use for more than 15 years with no problems though we don't use it on a daily basis or anything like that.

We have a braun immersion blender - our old one was the same, and we didn't have the problem you had with yours (we've always ended up breaking the little chopper part of it first, the immersion blender part stays fine). Our old one was like 8 years old, and before that dh had one that was years old & the same kind (that he'd stolen from a restaurant he worked at. . . so it held up to a lot of use).

I wonder if this is the problem going on with my cuisinart blender though. . .

I have recently bought the new Braun Multiquick 7 hand blender (the MR 700 one) and I'm absolutely thrilled with it!
Excellent quality stainless steel-no plastic, 15 speeds and a turbo boost and anti-splashing.
I use it daily to prepare our smoothies, to make tomato sauce, chop onion, garlic etc. and blend soups.
A bit expensive though but worths every penny!

I've been really happy with my KitchenAid one, but maybe I don't use it as much as some.
