Reflux, aberrant right subclavian artery, possible apnea?

Looking for anyone whose infant has been diagnosed with reflux + aberrant right subclavian artery. DS is 5 months. I posted before about him not cooperating for the swallow study/upper GI. He only refluxed to level 2 but I think the study would have shown a more severe reflux had they been able to get him to take the bottle and remain calm (they had to tube the barium down his throat). The upper GI is what caught the aberrant right subclavian artery. After researching, I know this condition is the most common and doesn't typically cause symptoms. However, my pediatrician wants him seen because of the symptoms he's expressed: trouble latching, staying latched, choking, gagging, gargling. All of this could be from my overactive letdown-my friend watched him today and couldn't believe that I letdown within a minute of nursing and the area around his eyes turn red as he works so hard to keep up.

However, he doesn't only choke/gag when he's nursing. He does this throughout the day and while he's sleeping. Yesterday and today he has fallen asleep on me which is something he hasn't done (without being walked in the sling) in over 2 months. I noticed that not only is he noisy (he's sounds kind of "junky" and I've found him mouth breathing) but he'll all the sudden jerk up like he's catching his breath and he'll cough and sputter. I felt really concerned listening to him tonight.

He also is junky, coughy, sputtery, gaggy, gurgly awful after he's been crying. I've Never heard this in my other kids.

Has anyone else seen this in their baby? I'm wondering about apnea though I've never seen him stop breathing for 20 seconds or more and I've never seen him turn blue.

The ped wants him into a GI specialist for the artery but that will take a few weeks. I'm wondering if he needs to be seen sooner for the breathing that I'm hearing. I also don't want to be a total freak-out. I'm under a LOT of stress so I feel like maybe I'm totally overreacting to him.

Abberant Right Subclavian Artery

Hi. I am new to Motherring and saw your post. I see you posted quite a while ago, but I am curious how you little one is going. I have a 3, almost 4 year old little girl, who has not eaten well since birth. She has been on a feeding tube for over 2 years and a recent Upper GI, just revealed an abberant right subclavian artery. I understand that a lot of people with this have no symptoms, but those who do, have feeding difficulties. She was diagnosed with GERD, but I really don't think that is the case. I hear the artery can also case breathing problems, which we have not experienced, but it sounds like your little one may have some breathing issues as well, while sleeping. We always elevated my little girls bed when she was little, because we were worried about her refluxing at night. So, let me know how your little one is doing. Did the doctors end up doing some more tests? Has the abberant artery been repaired?
