I read that one & the other one (how to talk so kids listen) by the same authors and really like them. I like how they have cartoon scenarios of different situations & simple principles that are easy to understand. I agree with their approach which really respects each family member (kids & parents). DD is 21 mo and we are expecting #2 in March so I haven't had a chance to actually use it, though.

I got it for free from my OB with my second pregnancy. It doesn't stand out as being one of the most fabulous parenting books I've read, but it was helpful. A lot of it was common sense stuff that you don't think about when your kids are in the middle of an argument, and I didn't agree with some of their advice.

definitely worth scanning through at least. I read it and came away with a better idea of how to deal with kiddie drama. Many of the techniques they teach can't be used until a child is able to talk and reason at least a little bit...you could maybe use some of the techniques with your oldest as s/he adjusts while the baby's little.

I really like the book (as well as How to Talk), but I don't think it has a lot of new baby advice, which is what I was looking for when I bought it before my 2nd was born. I've never really found anything that specifically addresses bringing baby home and those early weeks in any kind of detail.
Maybe that's a book I should write.
