Freaking out a little. Beta results, low prog.

Ok, so I got my first Bloodtest results back.
At 4wks, 5 days (Tuesday)- HCG= 1600 (ok, right?) but Progesterone is 10.5, that's too low. Doc is calling in a rx for supplement but meanwhile...what does this mean? Am I at risk of losing this baby???
I have some progesterone creme, should I use it until I get the RX?
She didn't schedule a 2nd beta, which I'm calling to ask about tomorrow but she DID schedule a sono on Monday (will be 5wks, 4days), because she wanted to "see what was going on" I'm freaking out.... what should I do?
Anyone BTDT????

to be honest, one number means nothing.

At 6 weeks when I was tested my progesterone was 7.6

without supplementing, my next test was 17. (10 is actually the number they like to see, so your doctor seems to be overreacting a bit... 15 is the number they prefer if you are already using progesterone)

Something doctors seem to forget is progesterone is a hormone that is not constant, it comes in spurts throughout the day. If you test at a low it just means your numbers were low at that moment and another test in an hour or two could be higher or lower depending on where at in your progesterone production you are.

I wouldn't worry at all, but if using the progesterone will help calm you down, by all means go ahead.

By the way, theres been no conclusive evidence that low progesterone causes a miscarriage in an already-established pregnancy (low progesterone during your cycle could cause you to lose a pregnancy extremely early but by the time your hcg is to 1600, you are way past that point!) and thus no evidence that using progesterone will prevent a loss unless you are one of the women who has to use it during TTC in order to even get pregnant.

Its really not a sign of anything, as many women have miscarried with high progesterone and many have gone on to have perfectly healthy babies with low.

With DS I never had reading over 11.2, I was on a supplement and they stopped testing after heartbeat was seen (6 weeks) I just took progesterone until 11 weeks (dr said 10 but was ok with me going 11)

So can be just fine. DS is perfect!
