Does your baby also have those napless days?

I just want to know we're not alone here. There are some days where my DS ~ 3.5 m.o.~ just simply will.not.nap. I haven't been keeping track but I reckon it's about 3-4 days per month although not regular as far as I can tell. Usually he's a pretty decent napper, meaning it's relatively easy to get him down for 3-4 naps per day, even though he rarely sleeps more than 30-45 minutes at a stretch. He's also a pretty good night sleeper.

So what's up with that? Is it just those developmental growth spurts? I haven't noticed that he busts out with some new skill right after these sleepless spells though. Who knows.

Mine will eventually nap but i do have those days where she fights it like crazy. However i had them a LOT more when she was your baby's age. So take comfort that it will pass. She is now 6 months and seems to go down for naps a bit easier. They do have a lot of stuff going on at about 3-5 months that messes with sleep. It is like they wake up from a newborn coma and the world is just WAY to exciting.

MINE DID THAT TOO!! prolly a developmental thing cause mine also busted out with a special new thing to do by the end of it!

DD has days when she doesn't take as many naps.
She generally goes through a couple days like that i a row and then back to norm.
She also has days where she naps more.
Just like us I guess.

Yep, DD has had napless days. I wouldn't say once a month but once in a while. For her, usually associated with a growth spurt or teething it seems...

My DD definitely had napless days. They usually happened to be when my DH was out of town for a few days. I gave up trying to force her to sleep those days. She happened to never be fussy those days, she just did not sleep.

Yes, my DD definitely does this. She always fights sleep, especially naps, but on those days I do think it is either teething or developmental or just too stimulated and sometimes a combo. If she didn't get the knock out from breastfeeding, I think she would skip a lot more naps. And she will be so, so tired, but just will not sleep. When she gets there, I give up for 30min-1hr or more and try again or just put her to bed early for the night.

For DD it wasn't just occasional days - it was, like, EVERY day for a while, but it definitely started around your LO's age. For Bea, naplessness is definitely due to overstimulation. At 3.5mos or so she had a major increase in awareness and just didn't seem able to shut anything out enough to rest. Now (at 5 months) she's still very difficult to get down for naps, but she does take some every day. Maybe your baby is learning to deal with her newfound awareness, too?
