New Pregnancy After Miscarriage

Hi all,

I took a pregnancy test last night, fifty days after I miscarried at about 4 weeks, and it was positive. According to my calculations, I would be just under 3 weeks pregnant. My question is, does anyone have any experience getting pregnant immediately after a miscarriage? Are there any increased risks for another one? Prior to the last miscarriage, I was cramping for almost two weeks, including before and after I tested. I'm not having any cramping now. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Theres really no way to tell, unless we knew why you miscarried last time.

I do have personal experience... I miscarried at 13 weeks and got pregnant with my son less than a full 2 months later. Son is a healthy almost-8-year-old now!

I know often women can go on to have a healthy pregnancy... but sometimes not. Usually it takes a few miscarriages before they diagnose a problem though, unfortunately... since so very many women can have just one and go on to have healthy pregnancies after that.

I miscarried in May at 11 weeks and got pregnant exactly 6 weeks later (now 12w6d) and i was told by my doctor that being it was my first loss that i have no more of a chance to have another than someone who hadn't had any however as mentioned it does depend on why you miscarried...and yeah they usually won't look for the problem unless you've had multiple losses....
Good luck with this pregnancy!!

Thanks Ladies! The last one was my first, so I'm not really concerned about there being an issue just yet. Just a little jumpy. Thanks again for the insight!

I miscarried in March, never got my period, and got pregnant again in early May. I am almost 21 weeks and pregnancy has been healthy thus far. Good luck!

I miscarried in July and got pregnant with this one with no period in between - ovulated on CD24 if you count the first day of bleeding for the m/c as CD1. So far so good, I'm at 7w1d today.

i miscarried my first baby and concived my son two weeks later. Perfectly healthy nealry 4 year old boy. it was hard to deal with having the two pregnancies so close together, and it was a bit befuddling but all worked out in the end

I too had an early miscariage and then conceived my daughter just 2 weeks later, I had a little unexplained spotting early on with that 2nd pregnancy (which totally freaked me out, of course) but other than that, it was a perfectly normal and healthy pregnancy. I wish the same for you!

Congratulations! We always tried to get pregnant after a m/c but guess my body needed the recovery time. I think it happens when it's supposed to. Sending sticky baby dust...

I miscarried my first pregnancy, too, early-- maybe 6wks-- then immediately got pregnant. I did have some low progesterone perhaps, so I took pills for that, and I bled like a period, but for weeks (charting was how I knew I was pregnant the first time, and testing, and how I knew I was pregnant the second time despite "getting my period"-- the OB's office figured the home test was positive b/c of the previous pregnancy but I insisted they treat it as a new one, based on my charts and just in case). But that second pregnancy is sitting at the table eating muffins right now Good luck!

My first pregnancy was a m/c at around 6 weeks. Then I got pregnant with DD (now 21 mo) a couple of week later. I think my fam doc at the time told me to wait to get preg 2-3 cycles after m/c but didn't really convince me why so we just went ahead. I'm now preg with baby #2 (pregnancy #3) and so far so good. Good luck!

My doctor told me that is a common suggestion but unless there is a fear of molar pregnancy, its not actually required physically... more psychelogically, to be sure you can handle it.

And Ill admit, even after 2 months (which was only 1 cycle) I was not ready but the struggle was worth the little man hes becoming!
