published article on a non-academic resume

I am applying to jobs, some with a K-12 education focus and some in the general private sector; and I have a published article in an academic journal which is relevant to several of those potential jobs. Do I put the citation somewhere in the resume? Or the cover letter? And if so, how do I format it? My academic field uses Chicago style, should I just use that?

For this situation it's good to have more than oneresume's written up. One for jobs that highlight your K-12 experience, has your publication record on it and is directed at a K-12 position. You then other resumes that highlights the skills from you past positions that are applicable to that field, or are more generally applicable.

Keep a stock of both resume's and send the appropriate ones to each position.

You can have several different stock resumes that highlight different skills and experiences for different types of positions. So in your resume for managerial positions you highlight your leadership experience and management skills, for the K-12 jobs you highlight your publications, education, and K-12 job experience, ect.

When my husband was looking for computer jobs several years ago he had different resume's for programing jobs, then he did for technical support positions, then he did for network operations jobs. All listed the same information but highlighted different skill sets and experience. I even have a resume and a CV. My CV is for jobs in my field as that is the preferred format for my field in academia. I have a resume for jobs outside of academia that is shorter and more concise.

As for how to cite it in the resume itself that kinda depends on the format of your resume. On mine I have headings for education, job history, certifications/training, and one for publications.

I certainly am going to have a few different resumes for different kinds of positions. The publication will go in its own section along with the related conference paper, then, but what about the citation style? Bibliographic style? MLA? Chicago? Something shorter?

I honestly format mine almost exactly from PubMed. I figure if they are going to look up my publications that's where they will go to find it and it's a format that should be recognizable to everyone in my field. But I am in the sciences.

Oh.. Whatever format you use don't forget to bold your name if the paper has multiple authors.

so mine looks something like this -

Publication

Manuscripts

Author1, Author2, My name, Author3. Title.
Journal. Date Issue.
