Cotton prices going up next year, so buy your clothes before then!

I just read this article on CNN. Cotton Crunch.

Says that because of floods and other reasons the price of cotton will be going up next year. They will raise prices on cotton clothing and textiles and it may be harder to find 100% cotton items. Many manufacturers will be doing more cotton/polyester blends. We use 100% cotton almost exclusively because of skin sensitivities so I'm going to start looking for sales to stock up on undies, socks, Tees for dh.

Thanks...

I appreciate the heads up.
I buy a lot of cotton.
Take care mama.

yeah, this will be interesting to see how it actually affects the market. I'm sure that these companies have tons of clothes that people have not bought since consumption is down. The way things are actually sold often has little to do with the cost of production, especially if you are looking at large retailers like Target, walmart, etc.

I'm slightly suspicious that this big hit coincides with Christmas and the end of the year...

Figures since I'm just now kind of looking into switching to cotton. I don't know how that would work for me anyway, though, since I don't buy any of my own clothes. (Mom and MIL give me all my clothes for birthday and Christmas, and I'm not picky or stylish, so that's my wardrobe.).

I just splurged on getting fancy schmancy underwear for DD from Hanna Andersson and started to go "hmm, maybe this is what we should all be wearing."

Guess I picked a good time to stop buying anything new. lol

Unless this is going to effect second hand prices, then bleh!
