chubby thighs, fitteds and covers

I'm looking for a handful of inexpensive fitteds to supplement our flats and prefolds, and some new covers. Ds is a big 5mo - tall and with chubby thighs. I like the convenience of velcro, but snaps/snappies are fine too. We ec part-time, so I'd prefer something that feels wet. Dd was out of dipes at 14mo, and I'm guessing a similar timeline for ds. It'd be awesome if whatever we find could last till then!

We loved these in velcro, but ds has outgrown his and it looks like they're not making velcro anymore and they won't have larges until dec

Any ideas?

I've been looking into snugglebottoms from babybunz.com. They have velcro closures and are the cheapest I have seen - medium (for 16-22lbs) run $27 for 6 ($4.50 each) or larges (18+lbs) are $29/6 ($4.83 each). They have other sizes I don't know how big you little guy is. They have a sample tab that will allow you to buy only 1 to try it instead of 6 at once.

I also posted here about gigglebritches.com fitted diapers to see if anyone has tried them but they do not have closures but have pocket for stuffing and I have not seen that on a fitted prefold - those are $24/3 ($8 each). However, this site also sells the OsoCozy for $9.75 each that has velcro. Unfortunately I have not tried any of them - a friend of mine highly recommended the snugglebottoms and that is mainly what I will be trying for my newborn when he/she arrives. Good luck I'll be interested if others have some ideas.

DD has very chunky thighs and the OsoCozy is great for her.

I really love the kissaluvs organic cotton hemp but they are more expensive.

I tried one of each and they both worked well.

I also tried the Disana tie nappies for night time. I really like them, they are so soft! But, a lot harder to get on her because I am not good at getting a good fit yet. I use a cotton doubler with it and a Thirsties cover and no leaks so far. I don't use it every night, though, because it's harder and I really don't feel like it sometimes.

Thanks! It's so hard to tell in pictures which ones will fit the chunky thighs. Ds is 20+lbs, and at the top of the charts for height. Dd was heavier and shorter, and literally nothing but prefolds fit for her, so I'm a bit timid. Ds is more normally proportioned, though. Has anyone tried the snuggle bottoms on a big babe?

One of those links has me looking at prefitteds. That might be a fun sewing project, and would end up with roughly my mental image of what I'm looking for. I worry about increasing the drying time though!

With the Tiny Birds site, you get free shipping. That's why I tried one of each.

I looked at this pattern http://mayna.livejournal.com/198548.html but I think it might be beyond my very limited sewing skills. I might try it though because I really wanted the "work horse" diapers.

Ooh, I just discovered contours. I think that's exactly what I'm looking for! What are the drawbacks of no elastic? Is it mostly poop messes? Cause poopy diapers are rare...

Any favorites? I'm eyeing the kissaluvs or else easy/hyenacart

My DS is a similar build to yours - I find Mother-ease one-size to work very well.

I have used Imse Vimse contours with success and I have a friend who swears by her Kissaluvs contours.
