Shoes

Sorry for all the thread lately

Somehow I just realized that DS probably should have something more substantial than 2 pairs of sandals for the upcoming months

Now I know "the" brands are Keens, preschoolians, etc but things are kind of tight here and I have a hard time spending $60+ on shoes that will only last a few months at best.

I think these Merrells look kind of cute/nice and $35 is ok. Has anyone had them or can offer some decent lower priced alternatives?

Up until now I've mostly bought shoes from places like Kohls which I guess is still an option.

I have these for DS for fall and they are REALLY flexible, http://www.shoes.com/Shopping/Produc...397&pg=5008067
I don't knoe how flexible the sole on the mocs are but it might be a little annoying to have to stuff a toddler's foot into a shoe without velcro or laces.

I usually like the Target shoes (I find the ones at Kohl's aren't very flexible & not great quality) and they are much cheaper -- I get them on clearance usually for around $3. But I am CHEAP so maybe everyone else's opinions will differ!

REI (including the website) will often have Keens or Merrills on sale for 35-40 dollars. I agree that a Moc will be hard to get a chubby foot into. We also LOVE Tsukihoshi toddler shoes. They hold up amazingly well -- we have several hand-me-down pairs that look almost new though they had a lot of wear. You can find them on sale usually for about $25 online.

I looked at the REI site and no sale Keens in DS' size. Oh well, still searching. I did find some stride rites at macys on sale for $32 I think so i may go with these:

I've had those guys bookmarked for quite a while now, but haven't bought any shoes from them yet. My LO has a big wide foot, does yours? I'd love to know what the fit is like on these from someone here who has tried them!

If you go to Macy's (irl, not macys.com) tomorrow before 1pm there is a $10 off coupon you can use. Its here. Hope the link worked...their site is wonky.

We tried StrideRite & Pedipeds for my toddler's wide feet and they were fine. Pediped sometimes has sale shoes at $15 for "last season" styles but who cares! Also just bought a pair of OshKosh from Target and they were flexible & nice for $12.

Also look at amazon.com

I just got a pair of Tsukihoshi on ebay for $15 including shipping. I get a lot of DS's shoes on ebay. Our only new shoes are Soft Stars and if you get a non-custom pair, they can be really affordable.

I ended up getting the stride rites because Macys had a good sale online AND I got $15 off my order too. I got DS a bunch of stuff on sale/clearance.

1 pair shoes
1 DKNY hoodie
3 long sleeve polo type shirts
2 pair pants
1 Nike set (pants & l/s shirt)
total $100

DS's foot is fat (tall?), and a little wide and these are great. Pedipeds are also good for wide/fat feet. And See Kai Run.

DD has been wearing the exact shoe but pink for a couple of months now. They definately cater to the wide toddler foot (although DD's feet are not wide.) She does trip in them a lot compared to her Keens . I love keens. I am thinking about getting some winter keen for her.

One thing, the nylon on the Tsukihoshis frayed. I have no idea why. DD is not hard on shoes at all.

Tsukihoshi still make a wonderful shoe. Very 'healthy' for the foot. And, they are very fashoinable.

ETA: We love Tsukihoshi, Merrell, and Umi, but DD does not trip at all in her Keens. The only problem with those is they make her feet smell.

Target has some great toddler shoes, nice flexible soles, cute, inexpensive. I bought my ds about 6 pairs of this shoe, in various sizes:

http://www.target.com/Cherokee-Brown...k&frombrowse=1

They're listed as out of stock on the website, but they usually have them at the stores, they're about $15.

My DS's foot is fat-in-a-tall-way too. lol
SKRs were awesome shoes, but they only go up to a size 9. DS outgrew his last fall just a couple of months after we found them, at about 17 months old, and we had to get him size 11s in Livie & Luca. THOSE are some amazing shoes for the wide-footed LOs, and you can get the flexible soles in the bigger sizes. However they only run up to size 12. I'll check his size and see if he can start the winter in their 12s, but after that we are up a creek, as it were. A 28-month old in size 12 wide...

I've probably spent $30 on all of ds's shoes combined (4-5 pairs) because I've gotten them on ebay, craigslist, or local consignment sales. He wears Keens, See Kai Run, Merrells, etc... I'd check second hand for sure
