Squamous Papilloma

I was sick with a virus a couple of weeks ago (which my doc said was probably hand/foot/mouth even though I am 30 - I had a virus then rash on, well, my hands feet and mouth). Then I noticed my throat was sort of sore. I looked in there and there was a bump/lump inside my throat near my tonsils. I went to an ENT today and he said it was squamous papilloma and I needed to have it removed.

I was diagnosed with HPV in the past (the 2 worst strains) and had to have surgery about 5 years ago to remove some lesions. I have consistently tested negative since that time. I am kind of freaking out that now I have basically an HPV lesion in my throat.

Anyone ever had this? Could it be connected to the other HPV? I am trying not to freak out too much, but it is sort of a losing battle.

I scheduled an appt to get a second opinion, because I don't know anything about this doctor today other than the fact that he took my insurance. He didn't give me a warm fuzzy at all, and actually seemed almost drunk.

What scares me the most is if it is connected to my previous infection. I don't want cervical cancer.

Getting a second opinion is always good and it will help you move forward.
From what I have heard (very little) these are usually benign and just need to be surgically removed, most of the time.
It could be connected to your previous infection, but it does not mean that you are going to get cervical cancer! Just keep getting your paps and pay attention to your body.
If I were you I would take a rescue remedy (I have A LOT of health anxiety) and continue to move forward with taking care of this and healing.
I know it is stressful and overwhelming, one step at a time.
Hugs.
