Do you have songs that helped you get through the end of your relationships? Wanna share them in case they might help others around here?

My current favorite: Heart of Glass

Some others that always either reaffirmed my decision to end it or allowed me to wallow in self-pity:

I have three. My Husband left me after 9 1/2 years because he "wasn't in love with me anymore". Apparently, he thought the grass would be greener on the other side, that I was the reason he was so unhappy. I had no idea, until the day he told me he wanted me to leave. These three songs are "my" songs now.

This one is about what happened... Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd

This one is exactly how our love story went (except nobody died, he just randomly left)... November Rain by Guns N' Roses

This one is how I felt at first... Reason To Believe by Rod Stewart

This one is how I feel every moment of every day of my life... Did I Say That? by Meat Loaf

This one I have to add, even though it's not technically about my Ex. I was there in my stepdaughter's life from the time she was 13 months old, until she was almost 9 1/2 years old. Leaving her was the hardest thing I ever had to do, it hurt even more than losing my Husband. This song is about the last three weeks with my stepdaughter, before I had to move out... Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood always made me smile while we were divorcing.

And Not Ready To Make Nice by the Dixie Chicks always gets played when I get an email from him asking why we can't just be friends.

I really love Bullet Proof by LaRoux too.

always loved this song, decided to finally learn it recently, & had probably sang it a few dozen times before I realized that it is the story of my life involving my divorce & returning to work on my home River...

this one has always helped me through tough spots of all kind, ignore the pop sound, & listen to the opening line in particular...
little wonders


I wrote one about leaving him called "A Beer Can Lament"
and another one later called "A Single Mom's Lament (Hard Workin' Mamma)"
both of those have been huge for me, maybe I can try to upload them to share...

If You're Going Through Hell, by Rodney Atkins wasn't around when my ex and I broke up, but I listened to it over and over, during a different tough time in my life. I think it would help anyone! After all, break-ups when you have kids aren't just sad, they're scary!

My 5yo DD just watched this video: I Hate Myself for Loving you
I thought it was perfect for this thread

DD is in love with Joan Jett these days. She has the whole household going around singing, "Ch, Ch, Ch, Ch, Ch, Ch, Cherry Bomb!!!" all day long.
