Curing sweet potatoes

We just dug up our sweet potatoes and I read that you need to cure them at 80-85 degrees with high humidity for at least 10 days. But the temperatures just cooled here, my basement is gross, I have a boiler not a furnace, and I don't know how to store them reasonably. Anyone know?

I improvised. I think you can find more info on line about exact temps vs days of treatment needed (the warmer the curing temp the less days needed to cure I think).

I used the top from my Styrofoam incubator that I have for incubating chicken eggs placed over a clean metal trash barrel filled with sweet potatoes and draped with wet towels for humidity.

I once talked to someone who used her steam radiators - she had her sweet potatoes bundled up next to them somehow.

I think I vaguely remember talking to someone who had a set up using barrels of hot water and she kept replacing the water.

Some lucky people have one room on a separate thermostat and they can just raise the temp in that one room for a few days.

However much of a pain in the neck it is you really do want to cure them because otherwise they won't be sweet and they won't store well. Curing gives them that waxy coating on the skin that keeps them storing well. After curing you can just keep em at room temp.

Hmmm...I can't really do any of those things. I don't have access to any of them. It is awful hot and humid in here, still. Think that just keeping them in a cabinet in our humid and hot house will be ok for at least part of the time?
