Hi all!
I'm Erin. I'm 25, live in the Triad area of North Carolina with my DH and two wonderful dogs, and am here to soak up as much info as possible.
I'm a bit of an odd duck I think as I don't have any children, nor am I currently expecting or TTC. DH and I are not planning on adding a child to our family for at least 4-5 more years, but a large number of my friends from college are starting families and this has triggered my interest in all things birth and baby related.
I've already been reading blogs, articles, and several books (Pushed and Babycatcher) over the past 8 months or so, but now I think it's time to hear from moms themselves, so I'm joining the board mostly to lurk and maybe ask a few questions here and there.
My research thus far has led to me deciding that when we do add a new member to the family a home birth, extended breastfeeding, EC, and babywearing are all good fits - and all of those things are very unusual in my group of friends, so the more info I have, the better.
DH is still a bit weirded out about my researching this far ahead of schedule so to speak, but he's starting to understand it. Just tonight we had a great convo about why I feel that home birth is the way to go (assuming a low risk pregnancy) for me in the future and a few months ago he watched "The Business of Being Born" with me, so slowly but surely I think he's starting to lean toward my "granola" ideas more and more - yay!
Anyway if you got through all of that, congrats and thanks for reading!
