Apparently we are freaks...DAVID'S BRIDAL drama

BTW this was in Natick, MA

they didnt kick me out or anything...but it was not pleasant to say the least...

firstly i had a gown on and DD wanted to nurse (10 m/o) so i just sat down and nursed her...
The attendant (or w/e they are called) comes over and says oh i BF my DD when she was a baby i love BFing then says i should cover up...i said no thanks i am fine. Then she "informs" me there is a male who works up front so she will get me a blanket to cover up.
i responded with,"oh im not shy i nurse her wherever whenever and i am proud of feeding my child the natural way." then she says well its you're choice and walks away for a good 30 mins...

Later on she brings up BFing and says oh well shes almost at the year mark bet you cant wait...
i said well im going to nurse her until she weans herself...

she responded with "oh you're not going to be one of those freaks who BFs their kid until they are 5 are you?!?!"
i said "i will let her nurse until she does not want to even if she's 5..."

i feel stupid b/c i SHOULD have done SOMETHING but i mean i have to go get alterations ect ect and i guess i feel weird about "getting her in trouble" and then seeing her again...

idk i guess i could always do something about it after i have the dress lol
anyways im pissed and the more i think of it (especially the nursing beyond infancy comment) the more pissed i am.

You could contact a manager by phone or in person the next time you're in the store and tell her about the rude comments the associate made to you. Do you remember the associates name? If not, you could just describe her, I'm sure. Doesn't hurt to lodge a complaint even after the fact. It might even be easier bc you're not all heated and angry in the moment.

I so have to agree about lodging a complaint. Who cares what that woman thinks. I would have been offended about the male comment too! If you don't stand up, more women may have to take this junk from her or someone like her. Have a friend call for you if you can't. I understand some people's natures may not be like mine which is to tick people off anyway...I am working on that! Really, I am! GRIN...Squeezes to you. I have experienced this junk at DSS...They asked me to feed DD in the bathroom...I replied with "Do you eat in the bathroom?" "Oh, you don't? Well, neither does she!".

So sorry about this mama... I would always get offended by the "I bet you can't wait" comment or the "She's going to be a year soon and then you'll be done" comment. I would complain after the dress.

You can get your dress altered elsewhere.

I would have gotten up and left seriously. I had a "situation" with a store clerk who called my child a sissy because of the pj's he picked and I totally went off...to the manager who agreed with me

FYI, you can have any davids bridal order you that dress if your uncomfortable returning to that store in fact I'd call the manager and insist they have it sent to another store so you dont have to deal with that clerk again.

I could see them not wanting you to nurse in one of their gowns (assuming it was one of theirs, and not one you'd already purchased). But other than that it's ridiculous.

People like that don't understand that when they're working the represent the place of business with their "opinion". I agree, after you make your purchase, I would complain. No one should tell you you need to cover up, male or females present!!

She shouldn't have bothered you, it's none of her business. I hate it when people make such annoying comments .

Gah! I live near Natick....now I almost hope to need to get a dress for wedding there, and I'll nurse my 2+ year old openly!
Oh my goodness, how awful and uncomfortable for you! I've only been breastfeeding 12 weeks and I'm already sick of people suggesting I probably "can't wait" to wean her or asking whether I will supplement with or switch to formula. GRRRRR.

She should know that BFing in public is protected by LAW in MA. Anyway, I would complain for being insulted. She called you a freak?! Wha?!
