This is a mystery to me. This is what happened.
DAy 1- dd1 wakes up with a sore throat that went away very soon after waking. She is snotty, mostly clear snot. She was not slowed down at all this day.
moving into day 2 Lots of sneezing (dd1 still), has a bit of a fever, but not high at all. We made her stay in bed to rest. Of course throughout I am offering echenacia tea w honey/ vit c and giving vit d. Now I start feeling a twinginess in my back.
Day 3- dd1 still wiping/ blowing/ sneezing a lot. Her nasal area turned red from the constant barrage. My back is in huge pain. I have no snot, no fever, no sore throat. Just bad back pain. Like I threw it out. I thought it was from sleeping on the couch for a few hours 2 days before. Or carrying a pack on a walk (but neither made sense due to the delay in the symptom taking hold).... I felt ok when standing straight. I felt ok when sitting back against a pillow. But to move was a pain level of 10. I could not pick up dd2 at all. I could barely get up to go to bathroom. Sneezing (which I do because of the cat and dog) really hurt. I also had spasms while sitting still. Other than that, I was fine though.
Day 4- dd1 still snotty. I stayed in bed all day. I felt I may have had a very little fever. Still pain level of 9 on moving. Took hot bath and used heat pad but it did not help.
day 5- dd1 nearly back to normal which includes quite a bit of nose blowing anyway (we are still tracking down her food intolerances, and mine). I was able to go out to living room and set myself up in a chair for the day. I could tell it was waning, but it still hurt really badly.
day 6- I wake up with a funny feeling in the back of my throat and running my tongue back there, I could feel bumps. They went away after drinking some water though. My back lessened by the end of the day to be a nuisance pain. I was able to pick up dd2 again

I still felt intense pain if I pivoted too much.
It has gotten better each day. I questioned dd1 if she had a sore back or neck and she said not at all.
Then yesterday, I think it would be day 8 in this timeline, the other adult here got the same excruciating back pain. I would describe mine as being in the middle back, and he says his is the very lowest low back. He has not been snotty either (only dd1 had that). It is like there were two different illnesses occurring, but I do not recall hearing of a virus that can give you back pain with no other symptoms. It is not a coincidence, he did nothing to pull his back or anything, I really feel this is some sort of a breach of the immune system, I am just baffled since I haven't heard of this. He found ice was what helped him so far.
today, dd2 started sneezing and having congestion, but it is already waning tonight. She is still mostly feeding on mother's magic milk, yay breastfeeding! She did have a mild fever too. I gave her vit d and c.
My back is still not back to normal, but is so much better, I would say I am only having a pain level of 2 if I move to those positions that were a 10 before.
So what presents as back pain with no other symptoms in an adult, and as a cold in children? or is this 2 things (and if so, why didn't the other adult that doesn't eat healthy or take supps or take care of himself get the cold too)? I am just curious, not concerned with it being anything worrisome, I want to learn all I can.
