Strange Bite on 4 year old, WWYD?

A few days ago, my 4 yo daughter had what appeared to be a small mosquito bite on her leg. No big deal, we live in Florida and it happens all the time. She also loves band aids (she uses them like accesories) so she asked me to put a band aid on it and I used a small one over the red spot. Yesterday morning I decided to take the band aid off and when I did I was so shocked to see this large area of dry flakey skin, mixed with bumps, mixed with what looked like white heads in an area that now requires a huge band aid to cover it.

My dh wants her to go to the ped, but I am hoping that I can just do something at home for it, I would have to take my 6 week old, plus my 6 yo with me this afternoon and I don't really want her to put on some sort of antibiotics. It hurts to the touch, and last night looked worse than yesterday morning.

WWYD? Thanks so much!

Honestly that sounds like a possible staph infection. Any bug bite has the potential to become infected with staph.

I would take her to the ped immediately to make sure it's not. Untreated, staph infections can be quite serious. traeted early it is not a big deal. IMO it's better to be safe than sorry and this is from someone who sees a ND and distrusts the medical profession most of the time

I would be going straight to a medical professional to have it swabbed and cultured. Staph infections can look like that, and they can move fast. It's best to get them treated as soon as possible. I'm not a big fan of antibiotics, but a staph skin infection would warrant them, and right away, too.
