6 Year Old Birthday!! Need gift ideas!

I can't even believe it, but my big girl will be SIX!

Needing some creative ideas... hoping you earthy mamas will be able to help me.

She's very creative, loves making things (just blogged about the sparkly shoes she did herself!! http://www.kellynaturally.com/post/S...Shoe-Saga.aspx), she sews in her Montessori class - but we don't have a sewing machine at home (sold it a few years back - really wishing I hadn't!) and really enjoys it, likes drawing, writing stories (&illustrating them), crafty stuff.

She also loves math. And doing mazes. So any games or ideas geared that direction are welcome as math doesn't come naturally to me, and she's a wiz at numbers already!!

ps: also anything that wouldn't be terrible if little bro (3) got into (i.e. nothing uber sharp or tiny & magnetic)

TIA.

One of those knitting mushrooms (like this) or some kid appropriate embroidery equipment and bag.
This embroidery kit looks pretty cool (some similar tie dye & silk painting kits on the main page there too).

Math-related. . . I draw a blank, though there's that classic labyrinth game (and a jr. version too, I believe).

My DD is also into crafty things, she is just starting to knit and likes sewing. We find putting the fabric in an embroidery hoop helps her to hold it more easily. So far she has enjoyed sewing felt shapes onto a piece of cloth and is now sewing on buttons to decorate a lavender sachet. We spent a while in the craft shop looking at various children's kits but I put my own together from scraps I had around. Maybe put together a small kit for her.

we got this knitting book for her for Christmas last year, it's got some simple but very cute projects

She is quite enjoying the usborne how to draw books

craft paper punches

The other day we started playing tantrix, she can follow the instructions but doesn't have much strategy yet. It's nice because everyone is supposed to be able to see everyone else's tiles. I think it will be a good game to grow into. It's also got some nice single player puzzles.

She also likes playing rush hour

If you don't already have it UNO is another game we all play, even the 3yo an match the cards although he can't yet hold them so the rest of us can't see.

Would she enjoy a maze/labyrinth game like this or this?

There are a lot of cute junior sewing machines out there. This one looks nice.

If she really, really likes sewing, you could get her a sewing basket of her very own, with a small selection of needles, thread, scissors etc. My mom got me one for my 10th birthday and I still have it.

Does she have one of those potholder looms? That's a little mathy (patterns) and crafty at the same time.

Smartgames has TONS of really great maze games.  We have the Mummy one (not sure exactly what it's called) and it's really fun.
