Is it bad to take Sodium Ascorbate early in pregnancy?

I really would love some info, and opinions on my situation.

I'm about 8 weeks pregnant now, and my 20 month old dd is starting to have a bit of a runny nose. She always responds REALLY well to sodium ascorbate in my breast milk if I take it to bowel intolerance. The thing is I've read so many mixed messages about Vit C and miscarriage.
Is it Ascorbic Acid that isn't good for pregnant women?
Sodium ascorbate?
Too much of either?

I'm so confused!

I really want to nip any kind of sickness in the bud with dd, but I also want to keep my pregnancy in tact. Can anyone please help with any info, or first hand knowledge on this subject?

No its not bad, but I much prefer the whole food vitamin C complex. It actually works better for my immune system and doesn't cause the digestive distress.

More on why:

II'm not sure why at 20 months you would not give the SA directly to your child as she is the sick one!!

Thanks for the suggestion JaneS, I'll have to go have a look at it.
My dd will have nothing to do with SA first hand. Not in juice, applesauce, yogurt, or any of the other sneaky ways I've tried to slip it to her. So, unfortunately BM is the only thing that has worked for us.

Still feeling a bit unsure, has anyone ever taken it while preggo?

From what I've read, large doses of Vitamin C is only capable of causing a miscarriage if it is taken *very early* in pregnancy...almost before one knows they are pregnant or right around the time of the missed period.

That said, if you are worried about it, I probably wouldn't take it. If something were to happen, I would hate to have that "what if" always lingering in my mind.

I have taken SAP while pregnant, but it was later in pregnancy, probably the 2nd and 3rd trimesters.

I would try to find a way to give the SAP directly to the toddler. I've had good luck with my toddler by mixing SAP in peanut butter and swiping my peanut-butter covered finger inside his cheek really quick. He doesn't love that, but he tolerates it.

Good luck!
