Hello, can anyone please help me with how to use belladonna 30X (Hylands) for my 9 mo old DD with 103 fever, no other symptoms? I put her in a warm bath with me for over 30 mins but her fever only went down to 101-102 for a few minutes and now she's back to 103 and very uncomfortable. This is the 2nd day of her fever.

I'd give infant tylenol *LONG* before I gave my kids anything with belladonna... That is a very scary herb with hallucinogenic properties tha I for one can't imagine giving to anyone whos already sick. :scary:

I've been giving it to my now 12 yo daughter for years for her ears... it, and garlic oil, are the only things that help her. She has had no side effects.

While homeopathic belladonna is not the same as herbal belladonna, I would not be comfortable advising on how to use in in an infant...especially since we are fever friendly in my house. I am so sorry she is feeling poorly.

I'm guessing the OP is talking about a homeopathic remedy, since it's Hyland's. Totally not the same thing as dosing with herbs.

I haven't had experience with that particular remedy, but I usually give 1 pellet every 15 minutes until symptoms *start* going away. Then just wait and let it do it's thing.

I am not a health professional.

OP I would not worry about a fever unless it went very high, like 105 I would start worrying. Fever has a job to do. It is essentially burning out the invaders in simplistic terms. I do not treat a fever. With an infant, make sure you keep her undressed and uncovered. Infants are not like adults, they will not sweat it out. A warm bath would likely raise a fever IME. A tepid splash off will have more effect, but again the fever is not that high IMO. dd1 had a fever of 105 after travelling cross country. This was the illness that put me on the path of herbal/ homeopathy. I tried tylenol because I was frightened. It had no effect. As it turned out, in my daughter's case, it was something contracted after playing with a rag soaked in toilet water at a friend's house on the way. It was a bacteria and I found out how to go after the bacteria (by contacting a naturopath) when I got on the right track, the fever went away on its on (within 2 hours or so).

It would be important to know what is causing the fever to know what course of action should follow. Is this a side effect of a vaccine shot (they say fevers are a common side effect)? a cold? Is there a chance it is a bacteria?

I found out how to treat my daughter by contacting a naturopath in the area. If you want to treat your daughter's health naturally, I would suggest trying to contact a naturopath to help you find the proper course of treatment (if any).

Around here we support the immune system with vitamin d3 and vitamin c, and we are rarely sick for more than a day. If your LO is still exclusively nursing, you take the supplements and she will get it through you, but I would suggest giving the oral vitamin d3 drops from NOW to her directly also. The rule of thumb is 35 IU per pound but you should triple that in the case of illness. If she is eating solids, only give her pure foods (foods that can be eaten raw, even if you cook them to serve them to her, ie avocado, carrots, peas (fresh) melon, banana, berries, apples (organic)) or just nurse nurse nurse would be the best. and of course offer pure water.

I agree with pp that belladonna from hylands is a proven remedy and not in any way dangerous. Many children die or experience adverse effects from tylenol, and there has never been a death associated with a hyland's product. I use the teething tablets (which can help make her comfortable in many situations) and the calms forte with my children, and the headache remedy and the allergy remedy... it is a very respectable company. If you do want to use their product to treat the fever, the dosage is right on the bottle usually for their products.

Here are a few sites about fevers. I would ask also for you to check if her neck seems stiff. If she can move her neck okay to touch her chest. There was a recent thread about meningitis, which apparently presents as a fever with a stiff neck.

These are mainstream sites. I do not care for the content, but this first 2-3 pages about fever on right on. No need to worry until it is a lot higher.

It is scary, but not likely to be damaging. She is building her immune system. I gg hth

To OP.....belladonna is usually the indicated remedy for a fever of Sudden Onset.

I would not dose an infant with a 30x concentration. I would opt for 6 or 12x
I would give one dose (which is 2 pellets). If there is no response in 30 min Id do another. I would continue to do this for 4 doses. If you have no response after 4 doses, it's the wrong remedy. Once you get a response, than don't give another dose until the fever starts going up again.

I usually use ferrum phos for fevers and have had good luck with it.

No way Id use tylenol but that is just me

2nd Ferrum phos is usually what I go to, I will do aconite and then belladonna if i catch a sudden onset, then its ferrum phos thereafter, works great.
