Any recommendations?

I have a 11-month baby girl and i'd like her to start Montessori as early as possible. Any Montessori 'consultant' who can visit our home and give professional opinions on how to set up an appropriate home environment? I am in New York City. My email: seanchs@gmail.com

Thanks,

Hi Chenghs!
I give Montessori consultations as a auction item for our school's annual benefit. I will try to pm you the form I use (i've been having some computer malfunctions)...
Basically, you will want to slow down and start trying to see things from your child's perspective and set up your home environment so that the child can be as independent as possible, with you introducing items/procedures and guiding them along the way. Try to envision how to set up areas in each room so that the child can participate in the life of the family. Invite the child to participate when you are setting the table, doing laundry, washing dishes...
There are some great ideas in the books: "In a Montessori Home" and "At Home with Montessori" both published by NAMTA.
I'll try to post more ideas also.
Oh - you could try to contact one of the schools or training centers near you to inquire about a professional consultation.

Also have you read either The Joyful Child (age birth to 3) or Child of the World (age 3 to 12) by Michael Olaf Montessori Co.? both are great catalogs and full of wonderful resources.
btw, the book I mentioned above, In a Mont. home is for birth to 3.
