Pregnancy and IUD anyone?

I'm sure this is total coincidence and I really shouldn't even be humoring the thought. But I am...

I have had a copper IUD for 2 1/2 yrs so I should be protected, right?

The past few days my left upper back has been really tight and uncomfortable. I've been thinking that it is a strange place to have a tight muscle, but something about it is familiar. Then it hit me - I had this same tight muscle the whole time I was pregnant with DS1. Then, before I even knew I was pregnant with DS2 it came back.

So I checked for the string on my IUD and couldn't find it. I'm not normally checking at this time of the month. My cervix is low and and firm - like the tip of a nose (I think that's how it was described in TCOYF, right?) so maybe the string is just in a place I can't get to very easily? FWIW, I ovulated last week so that would be the proper positioning for my cervix at this point, I believe. (I don't have my book handy to consult)

Anyone get pregnant with an IUD?

Left upper back isn't a strange place for back pain for me! lol. I've had pain there for years, it was just much worse during my pregnancy with my dd. Never got pregnant when I had my IUD in, but I just had mine taken out a month ago. Kinda weird that you'd suddenly be having back pain... unless like you said it was related to pregnancy. I had back pain with my IUD but it built gradually and it was in my lower back... and it's gone 100% now that I have my IUD out.

i have gotten preggers with an iud. it was the copper one but when i felt for my string it was really long, the iud ended up coming partly out before i got it taken out. it was at the 2-1/3 year mark.

My string got kind of 'sucked up' into my cervix. Which, actually, is pretty ok with me. lol.
If you're curious, just take a pregnancy test. But I doubt you're pregnant based just on that.

I'm pretty sure I"m not. I had some mild symptoms yesterday that I thought could have been pregnancy symptoms but today nothing. Not even PMS symptoms, which I have been getting pretty significantly. But I"m working on the assumption that I"m not.

That makes sense. It seems much more likely that the string would be longer, not shorter, if it had become dislodged.

This is a really bad week, cash flow wise. I think it is so unlikely that I'm not willing to waste the money. And I'll know by next weekend either way so I'll just wait it out.
