Silly Halloween Question?

When do you decorate for Halloween? It's one of my favorite times of year, for many reasons, and I was wondering when you all pull out your gastly gouls?

I don't decorate, but around here lots of people start decorating at the beginning of October.

About now. I'm seeing a lot of decorations going up this weekend, actually.

Beginning of Oct. usually. But we don't carve pumpkins until a day or two before since they rot so fast out here.

Halloween's a big deal at our house, because the kids love it and it's my birthday. October 1st, we drag out the box of decorations and put them up. The kids - even at 15 - act like Oct. 1st is a holiday unto itself!

Halloween is my favorite holiday and my grandfather's birthday, so we usually go all out. My bday is Sept 26, so that's when I start decorating.

I have 3 boxes of Halloween stuff... 1 Christmas, lol.

I put out pumpkins and squash early October. I don't make the jack o' lanterns until the weekend before Halloween, I don't like them to be too rotted inside when I light them up.

No earlier than October 1st.

We love Halloween so much we started decorating the end of August.

We start a bit late, because 1) Canadian Thanksgiving is in early October, so we prefer to avoid the Halloween encroachment into that, and 2) dh really isn't into Halloween, so we try not to subject him to endless weeks of it.

If it were up to me, ds1, and dd1, we'd probably start about...now? (That's if Thanksgiving were at a different time, of course.) We'll probably decorate on Oct. 12th or later that week, as Thanksgiving is the 11th this year.)

We decorate midway through October, but we've learned to take down decorations early, or they'll get stolen or destroyed the night of Halloween.

Soaking a wilting pumpkin in a very weak tub of cold water and bleach will perk it right back up - it's like magic, I swear. Ours keep for a week or so like this.

Oct 29th.

We are kind of procrastinators.

Plus I'm usually too busy making DS's ridiculously elaborate costumes. (I'm going to use this as an excuse to show them off. Do to the enormous energy I put into them, I take any opportunity to show them off I can.)

2009: he kept changing his mind between faerie, ghost and angle, but specified he wanted his wings made of spider webs (he was rather disappointed that the wings weren't functional.)

We love Halloween so much that we were married last year in full costume , with all 6 of our children and most of our guests dressed up also~~
Last year I started decorating in August because I was insanely excited due to our upcoming wedding....
Usually I begin decorating the first week of September...strangely enough this year I have not cracked open the boxes of decorations yet ~ I am blaming the fact that we moved into a much smaller place a few months ago, but it could also be that last year I added SOOO much to our usual decor because of the wedding that the idea of opening up all the boxes is a bit overwhelming...
Anyway....I am a Huge fan of Halloween and say that you are "good to go" from any point from now forward....

Thanks everyone,

I am resisting the urge this weekend, and next weekend we are busy. I really don't think I can wait until October 1rst. I bought a bunch of great decorations last year, on sale after Halloween, and I am so excited for the kids to see them.

If it were up to me?? I'd start at the end of...no, scratch that...it would all stay up year round.

Our lease says we can't start till one month prior and we have to have it down before the week after is over....with any holiday.
