Elliana Rose is here! I finally went into labor around 11pm on the 9th at 41+2 after many days/weeks of prodromal labor and start stop labor. I tried to sleep in early labor but by the time I tried to lay down after cleaning up a bit it was getting too strong to sleep through so I just stayed awake. My woke up DH around 3am to set up the pool as things were getting more intense and he set that up. I text my doula/friend to come around 4am and started into transistion about 8am. We stayed there for awhile (or so it seemed to me) and I knew I had had this with my VBA2C too, she just didnt want to get under the pubic bone. So I worked through it and laid down in the birth pool sideways and rested in the water, that seemed to help it was so lovely like floating! I started feeling a little pushy about 9:30. Contractions were quite intense, I was moaning and getting very vocal. My water broke at 10am while pushing and I pushed for an hour. (much longer than previous time) She was just not moving down very fast and it hurt so bad. I know there are "pain free" births but this was just not it...She was moving my tail bone and that was something else! Whew. Finally she started moving down and it was just so cool to feel her inside of me, I had never felt this before. I let DH feel as well and he is so sweet he just started crying. Then as her head was crowning he felt her coming out too. I squatted and took a towel and wrapped it around my back and pulled both sides as I was pushing and that totally eliminated the pain in my back and seemed to help with the pushing. And I say pushing but it was more like this is what my body was doing there was no choice in the matter. Her head came out in that ring of burning fire and I leaned back still squatting to push out her shoulders and after a couple pushes her body shot out like a canon into DH's hands and he pulled her up and handed her to me at 11am, Sept 10. It was so amazing and just so normal. No one touching and proding her just me and DH checking her out and rubbing her down. She came out a little purpleish and we rubbed her back and started pinking up pretty quickly. I got the gush about 5 min later, stepped out of the pool and squatted over a bowl and out plopped the placenta....oh relief. Then sat down the floor with my baby and continued to rub her down. She was having a lot of grunting, so I sucked her mouth with my mouth a little trying to get the gunk out and we wrapped her up to warm her up and she finished pinking up her hands and feet. I tried nursing she wasnt interested so I went and took a shower to clean the mess off of me. Came back and we just kinda talked and called our families, then around 12:30 we cut her cord and weighed and measured her. Then I found out WHY she was so hard to push out! She was 10lbs 11oz and 21 inches long!! My biggest baby yet! We decided on a name and then got comfy. My doula left and my friend who also UC's came over to check out baby and make sure I wasnt bleeding too much etc.
It was so great, couldnt have been better for us! My DH even said WOW, I wish we would have done this with all four of our children. Defiantly would have avoided 2 unnecessary cesareans, but live and learn and we are happy to have this experience and know how normal birth is and how much it doesnt need to be messed with.
I still cant believe we did it! It was defiantly one of the worst pains in my life but SO worth it.
