anyone have problems with pouch/tube slings and older babes?

I have a 5 month old dd and my sling has always been my 3rd arm, until recently. I moved her to a forward facing position because she was sitting kind of sideways, leaning against the part of the sling that goes over my shoulder. But she just doesn't seem very comfortable sitting in it anymore. She doesn't fuss, but her head always leans out, and she's always trying to grab what i have (i should be used to that by now, huh?) It just feels a bit awkward.

Anyone else have this problem with tube slings? see bambinoblue.com if you don't know what i mean by tube sling.

I find that if I double over the top on my shoulder it makes it a bit snugger... and then I pull the pouch up over her shoulders so her arms are "trapped".

of course, at 15 months, my daughter can break through any barriers I set

She loves to type, AHHH!

i have a 3.5 mo old and she has never liked our kkfp . i like it, but she's a big girl and she likes to have her legs free. i'm hoping as she gets older i'll get some use out of it in the tummy to tummy or hip carry positions. the kkfp feels so nice and stretchy soft on my shoulder. i'd love to be able to use it more. she likes to nurse and nap in our old workhorse otsbh in the cradle position with legs dangling free. i think she's just not a pouch girl. i keep trying it every so often, though. not much help, am i? you might be able to try the hip carry with your little one. i think that's about how old dd1 was when i first carried her in it in the otsbh.

We got a kkfp when my ds was about 8 mos. Everyone raved about this sling but it's about the only sling that he's not keen on. Getting him into it was so difficult that by the time he was in he was already unhappy and then the rails really dug into his legs no matter how I tried to position him. They left dark red mards so we don't use it He's 15 mos now and I'm thinking maybe I'll try it again but I'm not holding out any great hope that he'll like it more this time round.

I absolutely loved our pouch til ds was about 4mos. Then it just didn't seem to work for us anymore--his increasing mobility and size, I suppose.
I then bought a Maya sling and loved it. I really appreciated the ability to tighten the sling as much as I wanted and to shift him to many different positions.
Now, at 14 mos, the Maya doesn't seem to be as versatile as it once was--ds is now too heavy for me to carry him for long periods in it. So, we're getting a kozy carrier.
I think that maybe for some mamas and babies, different carriers are needed at different stages.

That's a hard age for pouch slings because sometimes the babe still likes to be all inside, and there's just not enough room. This is the point where I would recommend the legs coming out with a shoulder flip. I can email a pic of this to you if you want...

LMK!
