Conventionally made mattresses off-gas like crazy. A lot of it has to do with the flame retardants that they soak or coat the fabrics in when they make the mattress.

It's hard to tell which has been exposed to chemicals, though. If it doesn't specifically say it hasn't been soaked with flame retardants, assume it has. The first one on your list sounds like a safe bet, the others I'd be more wary.

Good luck

I was just reading about this (trying to find info about changing pads, which use a lot of the same materials). For our crib mattress (which was mostly just for a sidecar, which was mostly just to stop me and baby from falling off the bed ) we went with the Naturpedic one. I felt 100% comfortable about that one. The ones you list sound (esp the first) good, but you have to watch out for what the insides are made of, what chemicals they use to treat them, what types of plastics they use-- they may be pthalate free, but still be polyurethene, which some people are less comfy with for some uses... it's good to look into it! I would wonder what the waterproof liner is in the first-- food grade? That's normally a good bet, these days.

Here's one thing I was reading.

The above mattresses are not organic. They have natural cotton which is still grown with pesticides and treated with chemicals after the fact. A tiny bit of organic cotton on top does not make it a healthy nor organic mattress despite their labeling it so. The first one has a high density thermo bonded core which I'll bet anything means petro chemical foam. Any waterproof cover is made from petro chemicals as well including the Naturepedic one. None of them say what their flame retardant is. Wool is the only acceptable one.

Lots of companies are cashing in on the "organic" movement. Try to buy from a reputable source that truly cares about the products they sell and not just their profits. A good way to tell is if they are a mainstream company selling toxic stuff that has come out with an "organic" line to make money. A good company discloses all materials and only sells non-toxic products because they truly care about your baby's health.
