Best cover for night?

My daughter is three months old, and we are using prefolds with Thirsties covers. Those work fine during the day, but at night not so well. My daughter pees a lot, so after a few hours of being in her diaper, she is soaked!! I hate waking her up to change her, but I can't let her sit in a diaper like that. Any recommendations as far as better diapering at night? Better covers for night??

Thank you!!

These aren't really covers, but I have a super soaker also and the only thing I have found that works are the Bum Genius diapers. I'm watching this thread though. I'd like to know what others have been through.

The one people recommended to me is this Dancing Bears nighttime fleece soaker

You might also want to add a hemp doubler to your prefold setup, if she is soaking the prefold. I like the Dancing Bears cover. It's high enough in the waist that it prevents belly leaks, and I have only had one leg leak so far. But with a bum that big, the PJ bottoms don't fit anymore...so it's Babylegs and a long sleeve shirt, which I am not in love with. But the cover works very well. We still have our AC on at night, so I worry about her being cold.

For us, Bum Genius do NOT work at night. Granted, I have a 15 mo old all-night-nursing tolddler. I've heard they do work for many people.

The cover is only as good as the diaper under it. If the diaper is soaked, no cover is going to do the job. You need more absorbency. I had to change dipes in the night until 6 mos. Now at almost a year we use a happy hempy w a stay dry inner stuffed w 2 pfs and a babykicks hemparoo. For a cover, either a mommys touch os or a babyology soaker/longie. Even so ive had it leak once, because he peed so much so fast that the dipe just couldnt absorb fast enough.

I agree with PPs--more absorbency & wool are the way to go.

I like Little Lions fitteds for overnight, although once my DS hit six months, I had to start adding to that. Now I use a small Snugglebottoms (you can only buy these at babybunz.com) fitted inside a Little Lions, and a wool cover over that. It works great! And when I was using PUL covers, the diaper would have an ammonia smell in the morning, but the wool has kept the overnight diaper smell free! I used a Stacinator for a while, and it kept him from leaking, but the ammonia smell was awful.

We used two prefolds during the super soaker phase. It made a huge diaper, but it didn't bother her, and actually I read it may be good for hip development anyway. Covers -- I like wool & also the Mommy's Touch one-size snap from GMD.

We use BG 3.0 or Knickernappies with a SuperDo insert overnight. I wouldn't want to do prefolds/covers overnight because I feel like it would be too wet next to her skin for too long.

Thanks for the suggestions. Maybe I will try two prefolds tonight, and see if that helps. I think I will also experiment with wool covers too!

Re: Best cover for night?

I've only used the bumgenius at night and never had a problem with leaks. I did not want the wetness next to the skin all night which is why I went that route. If my son happens to have red skin/rash when I put his bg on it always looks better in the morning. I use both the inserts that it comes with.

I also put a layer of fleece inside so baby feels dry and to help prevent rash.

Apparently there is much to learn about cloth diapering! I thought it was so simple. I didn't know there were so many options!

We use prefolds and covers all day but at night a fuzzibunz with the regular insert plus a doubler and it is great. Occasionally a little leakage but she is fairly dry even when the inserts are sopping wet.
