Has anyone else ever experienced having granular tissue in healing form perineal tear and/or episiotimy? I had a homebirth and a 2nd degree tear, for which my mw and I decided did not necessitate stitching. About 4 months after delivery, I was having pain and spotting so I went to an OB who said that I have quite a case of granular tissue (where the body grows too much tissue in healing).
She suggested that I be put under general anesthesia so she can be sure to get it all removed so it won't grow back. Has anyone had this surgery done? If so, how long did it take? I know it depends on the extensiveness of the tissue, but ballpark would be great. I am still nursing frequently and am nervous about having it done, but on the other hand it has made sex impossible and is pretty uncomfortable. The Dr told me it shouldn't be more than a couple of hours, but I wanted to see if anyone has BTDT. Thanks!
